FINANCE Minister Mathias Cormann has rejected opposition claims the proposed sale of Medibank Private would increase the budget deficit and drive up premiums, accusing the former Labor government of unsustainably “raiding” the insurer to boost its own revenue.
Opposition finance spokesman Tony Burke has warned the government will surrender dividends of up to $500 million by selling the company, adding to government deficits over the long term.
However Senator Cormann today said the comments showed why the Rudd and Gillard governments “made such a mess of the budget”.
“The proposition that somehow the commonwealth would be able to draw half a billion dollars in dividends on a yearly basis is just a ridiculous proposition,” Senator Cormann told ABC Radio.
“(Labor) raided Medibank’s capital reserves — that is not sustainable over time.”

Raided in inverted commas usually means they're lying-again.
Did you learn that from reports about the previous government?

You mean you've kept a tally of the previous governments lies so you can compare the count to this government's lies?
