I don't know what state you live in 4Chanel, but as a Melburnian, I certainly don't feel like I'm living in a police state

Well, you in your life may be fine but for many others, things are not fine atr all. There will be people right now thinking about committing suicide because their life work, the sacrifices they have made to build up their businesses has now gone down the drain. There are people suffering from depression due to forced isolation and others who have been pushed to the edge after having run ins with the police over just trying to have some kind of reprieve.

. The crime rate went up over lockdown as people breached health and satety guidelines.... like the Qanon protestors for example. regarding the protestors. their numbers were very small. considering the melb population is around 5 million people... every time they arranged a protest they could only muster a couple of hundred people at the most.  It's the police I feel sorry for having to deal with all that

Gosh what a thing to say!  How can you call people trying to have some kind of normality as contributors to a rise in the crime rate?  It seems that you're tarring them with the same brush as sex offenders, embezzlers, theives, burglars, gangs, murderers, drug dealers etc... Well, all those I mentioned will be contributors to the crime riise in a busted economy!

I don't know about those Qanon protesters. As far as I'm concerned they are in a world of their own. But people protesting about the lockdown and the destruction of the economy I can understand. The same goes for the other protesters who are against forced vaccination. I can understand them as well. And I understand and agree with the concerns of the people protesting the roll out of 5G which like other mobile phone technologies impacts on the health of people exposed to it.

I'm not unsympathhetic to the police either. I can understand their frustration. Anyway, the problem would only be a fraction of what it is now if there were no corruption in politcs or some ego-driven incompetent political furgure treating a state like it is his
own personal domain to rule over. OK that may be a bit harsh but only a bit. Smiley Wink

Not from what I have heard. Many people are in a agreement with him.

We know Daniel Andrews has maimed Melbourne. Heโ€™s also wreaking ruin in the regions
Kurt Wallace

The implementation of Victoriaโ€™s lockdown restrictions highlights the growing divide between Melbourne and regional Victoria. The Melbourne centric Victorian government has ignored the issues faced by regional Victorians, failing to implement measures in proportion to the varying risk of coronavirus across the state

There's no doubt that Covid 19 is a major concern even though the majority of people recover from it, there are still people who will be a casualty. But Andrews has gone into overkill where he's treating this issue like it's the virus out of Zombie Apocalypse .

With the major criminal issues in Victoria and large amount of immigrants trying to make a lliving and a better life for themselves, having worked in multiple jobs to keep their head above water, there are going to be issues.  And people from parents born here trying to keep afloat, this also going to be an issue. There will be major problems in due course!

Look overseas to Europe  .... where would you rather be ?

I think the Victorian Premier & team has in the end accomplished the improbable - so should be commended

Along with the surprisingly supportive Victorian community -  with meaningful financial support from federal resources

The economy will bounce back quickly - hopefully with a more efficient workplace/retail/infrastructure operating conditions and so a brighter future , and a healthier population

Even after this pandemic has been totally neutralised , there remains the issue of historically ongoing seasonal influenza and rhinovirus that should and can now be addressed

Defeating coronavirus shows that these other causes of untimely dealth , workplace downtime, student stresses and general misery can now be minimised  - we do not have to put up with serious cyclic mass illness

Which is just as well considering how much of a problem they could've been if some of them were infected and then just carried on but off course they wouldn't admit it so they would be mystery cases.

Remember the stage where they said that it was worrying because mystery cases were on the rise and that

happened after that protest where they invaded Vic market.

There were 13 mystery cases at one stage and they were from 11 different Melbourne suburbs which would indicate that they all may have been together at one place and they may have lied to police.stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

So instead of helping the situation as they wanted they made it worse?Who knows.gif

Melbourne Lockdown

I'm another who is overwhelmed with relief that the nightmare of 700 per day and rising has been blitzed in the Magimix of lockdown restrictions. It's not an unalloyed relief, but it is nonetheless a real and valuable thankfulness.

As I've indicated, I'm not a Dan fan. That's irrelevant to my conviction (based upon evidence) that we needed a hard lockdown to get on top of those numbers. Were I the one making decisions, I hope I would not have been so cavalier with the very real prospect of infection seeping out of the quarantine hotels in the first place, but of course we are all wiser in hindsight. (That doesn't mean Dan Andrews is any less to blame.)

Equally, were I the one making decisions, I hope I would have come down hard and sooner. It was very clear to me that the contact tracers could not work effectively once cases rose above a certain number (but I underestimated just how poorly Victoria's contact tracers were performing and how this would contribute to the crisis); by 25th June there were 33 new cases after a steady trend upwards over the last two weeks. I was already worried on 15th June (12 cases), and then the jump to 21 confirmed cases just two days later was (in my opinion) statistically significant. It was going to get worse; it wasn't being managed with the resources available.

To let it go at that stage - no. No, no, no. With all the challenges that we face as Victorians now, as a result of the lockdown (and I don't minimise the damage that's been done, economically and in terms of mental health), at least we don't have THOUSANDS dead and many more thousands having contracted COVID-19 with God only knows what sort of long-term damage to their organs and body systems. You can't - generally speaking - raise the dead, so that would be a damage that cannot be recovered from.

I would rather lose a business than lose the people I love. I would give anything - any amount of money, any amount of time, anything I have - to bring back the greatly loved family member who died during this horrible time. Anything. No business compares; no career compares.

So - with the benefit of hindsight - you would have done  - prior - to what Dan has done.

Mistakes were made/have been made - there is acknowledgement of this.

There is more to running a State than - Covid - give them a break - they are when all is said and done - Human.

Judgement is an Avenue.

Money - is a means - life is life.
