Yes I heard that one of the showbags costs $250.  Wonder what's in it.

There's still a couple (Bertie Beetle I guess) at $1 and $2.

Before arthritis struck I used to go to the show every year.  It was great fun.  I loved the craft displays, the agriculture pavilion, the cat shows, cooking competition winners, the farm animals....and I usually researched the showbags in advance and would come home with a few.

One year I remember getting on the train to go home and across from me were two kids with one showbag each that they were very excitied about....it was a religious one with stories and pictures from the Bible.  I guess there's a showbag out there for everyone.

Another great place was the dairy pavilion where you could buy King Island brie at a bargain price, and many other show specials.

I'd love to go back there but the knees won't let me. Smiley Sad

I must admit, we haven't been to The Show since the kids were little.. we did enjoy going though ( apart from the traffic)  and there was never enough time to do everything that we wanted to see and do

Showbags just keep going up and up in price but good to hear the Bertie Beetles have stayed the same

Sorry to read that about your knees- they can be really painful, problem knees..

But, you are right zanadoo- its fun. Hectic, chaotic, but fun.

One thing we do, is go to the CWA cafe and have devonshire tea..supports a good cause, the scones are delicious, and the tea towels are awesome..(they hang them like banners across the ceiling and they are for sale)

There were 2 ladies behind us who joined the queue, one with a walking stick..and while we were waiting I realised that no one was going to help her- and she seemed to be in pain. I asked my OH to go and sort out help for her, which he did..they were quickly sorted, with roast dinners and a nice table..the woman in front of me couldnt help herself, but turned to me and said- 'there ARE seats upstairs, you know, theres no need for queue jumping'..I said very calmly- 'you might not have noticed her walking stick, but stairs would be out of the question..Im sure exceptions can be made'..Woman Happy
