Deb, its amazing the change that happens when things fall into place. It sounds as though your daughter is doing really well. Must be a relief for you to see this happening. I love an open fire. It is a different kind of warmth that you don't get with gas, electricity or oil. I have a hole in the wall where the old gas heater used to be and one day I hope to have a log heater installed.

In your own words ^^^  you can't be everything to everyone. Its just not possible.

Please be gentle on yourself. I'm glad that you are taking some days off when you're not up to it.

I can't believe it's nearly three weeks Smiley Surprised Is he a good patient? Most men aren't!

I know what you mean, my tiny little dog gives me so much pleasure, comfort and joy! As loydslights has said, something very therapeutic about patting and stroking the fur and call me weird, but I love the smell, its like a warm blanket. Pets bring a guaranteed smile and laugh every day, that's or sure!

Take care everyone xx

LOL I can imagine!! Poor man, hospitals are awful places.

My daughter is moving forward too Deb. Not leaps and bounds but she has kept up with the taekwondo, and even more importantly has got some work. First day back tomorrow... three shifts a week.

Re: Mental Illness Awareness and Support Thread

Small steps, small steps..........good on her, TTT.

My DD has taken about 15 years from an initial diagnosis of probability of mental problems to get where she is now.  She may have a couple of "meltdowns" now and then but who doesn't?

It was getting into a proper "frame of mind' to accept she wasn't well and  to listen to the (finally found) doctor she was comfortable with,  and taking the appropriate dosage of medication at the correct time.

She went through "woe is me/give me sympathy" stages which turned a few friends/family members away.  She lost faith in herself at stages, because the medication didn't work quickly enough or make her "better" again.

But above all, she has learnt she doesn't have to meet (the perceived) high expectations of others.  Reaching her own small attainable goals has been an achievement.

Re: Mental Illness Awareness and Support Thread

Same to you, Deb, and everyone else. I'll be spending the day in hospital instead of with my girls so I'm thinking that Mothers Day might be postponed until next weekend.

Hugs to those who tread this thread and to those who lurk,
