Got this couple of days ago:
Your mailbox has exceeded 90% of its quota. When it reaches 100%, new messages will be rejected and bounce back to the sender. To avoid missing mail, please keep your mailbox at a reasonable size.
Is this for real? i actually delete most messages daily.

The best way to tell is to check the sender's full address when you open the email. Most scam addresses are obvious, but some are more clever - they can appear ok until you look more closely and notice a wrongly spelt word or a missing letter.
