Missing Passport

A couple of years ago, I lost the foot control to my sewing machine and a clever poster found it for me.

So, I can't recall the id of said wonderful poster......... but my husband has lost his passport somewhere in the house, it usually resides in the filing cabinet with mine but it isn't there.

I am systematically turning the house upside down to find it and my last room to search is my sewing room. I would really like to avoid that if I can.

Help! please, anybody!

Missing Passport

A few months ago now, I was walking to our local shopping centre and as I was crossing the road to it I spied something 'unusual' on the grass verge. On inspection it was a passport. Photo and and I.D. details was of a young female. Only a few pages stamped/used and noticed that from latest entry that owner had just recently returned from Bali. Figured she lost her passport on her way back to Perth from being 'Down South' to a very popular music festival.........

With an unusual surname I rang all the listed phone numbers in my area and from Perth. One woman I left a message on her answering machine-she rang me back and said that this female was a distant neice but that she did not know where she lived or how to get in contact with her......

So then I did the right thing and drove into the main police station and told events of trying to locate the owner with no luck BUT on handing it over the counter was quite shocked that the policeman said, "Geez! Did you know that you can sell an Australian passport for a lot of money....up to $20,000, especially one with lots of unused pages...." *wow - not for the money BUT the very suggestion!    I replied that this had never crossed my mind and felt like I had to insist that he accept my 'find' and report.....I left with the paperwork proof that I had handed this passport in. He said that I would probably never be contacted and notified passport was returned to owner.

Jus' thought I'd share this true tale.

Yes, that's why if it doesn't turn up a call to the passport office is a good idea. If it really is missing.

oops! ref my post.....ONE(1) word has been deleted/ommitted and completely changes meaning.

..." He said that I would probably never be contacted and notified IF passport was returned to owner...."

I still wonder if passport found it's owner....

I would imagine that with the data available to police on people that they would be able to locate the whereabouts of someone in about 2 swift sweeps of a computer keyboard....iykwim

Maybe his Dad has it?

did they go in to the bank together to do the ID checks?

might have picked up the passport by accident with his own paperwork/documents.

if they went in together ask his Dad too.

If it was used at the bank for ID, the bank may have kept it by mistake. .. Photocopied it and didn't give it back.

That happened at Centrelink when my daughter applied for YA(student).
First time took all her ID in and had it photocopied. All ID given back.
Called again to say they had no ID for her. Went through same process.
Realised not long after that, that she couldn't find her passport. Didn't worry about it as passport was about to expire. 3 months later Centrelink contacted her to say her passport was in her file there.
