um ah..The Prime Minister Tony Abbott has had to make another repayment of his parliamentary travel entitlements, with revelations he used taxpayer funds to attend the wedding of former colleague and parliamentary speaker Peter Slipper.
From the link above
I wonder how many $$ that repayment was?
Do they do any work, or just travel around attending cronies (and granddaughter of Gina's business partner) weddings?

Yes, we get fined if we omit a few dollars interest when we do our tax.

Yes, and they are ripping off the taxpayer big time.
It was $600. All adds up though.. $600, $1100, $9000..

Perhaps I can understand minor politicians rorting the system. But how stupid can you be if you have prime ministerial ambitions, yet you still rort the system. You would think you would have more common sense.
My husband is a senior public servant and he knows that every tax payer cent he spends needs to be accountable - not just in terms of whatever acts/guidelines cover that entitlement but also how it could 'appear' if someone questioned that spending. It's not rocket science.

And the other thing that peeves me is that we are talking such piddling amounts. What on earth would possess them to be so dumb?

Pretty silly really, especially for $600. Not as if they can't afford to pay that themselves on their huge salary.

Ha martini, just had the same thought as you.

They probably become immune to all the freebies and hand outs, that it becomes 2nd nature to them.

This list of claims by tony is pretty indicative of what he thinks of our taxpayer money. Pretty disgusting. I won't list them all because the article is too large but it's very damning and speaks for itself.
What irks me are the expenses for Tony and family. So we were paying for his daughters to attend the likes of the AFL Grand Final, The Victorian Derby etc.
That we have a man leading this country who can't see the moral wrong he has done is indeed, very sad.
In 2009 Tony Abbott falsely claimed flight and comcar costs while promoting his book and had to repay $9397.42. Here are 25 other examples of Abbott's work-related claims:
