I have been collecting movies (DVD and Blu-ray) for several years now and have amassed quite a few (around 3000). As I'm a cheap wad I also purchase second hand bulk DVDs from e-Bay. This bulk purchasing has resulted in few double ups which I'm keen to get rid of. Rather than selling them I would prefer to swap them for other movies that I don't yet have. To this end I had the idea of establishing a non for profit swap club. There would be a few simple rules such as:
All movies must be genuine (not boot-legs)
All movies must in playable condition
Lists of movies to be provided beforehand including release company, aspect ratio and running time.
I think this would be great way for people to get rid of their old movies and acquire different ones which they can keep or re-swap later on. Unlike a library, once swapped you own the DVD or bluray so if you damage it then it's your loss. I don't know whether to have one big meet say once a month at a neutral site (eg bowls club) or allow swappers to strike their own private meet ups. Would appreciate any ideas if you think there would be enough people interested and if it would work. Thanks
