What is it?

Say I come here and i am asian.

I can speak my language at home to my family, I can cook the food i like at home (or anywhere) I can do my rituals to my gods, no one will care.

So what is that multiculturalism all about?

it seems like empth words to me.

i don't understand.

i come from a different culture, english is my 2nd language.

i cook my countries food at home and hubby puts up with it or i cook him something else if it's too much of an aquired taste.

i speak english (foreign) to other people in the shops because no-one would understand a word if i spoke in my native tongue.

so what exactly is multiculturalism?

is it some ideal where i could talk in my native tongue here and expevt other people to understand me?

is it the freedom to cook my "foreign" meals as i please?

can someone please enlighten me what it actually means?

Village_person, i think you misunderstood what i wrote, above.

I you read the last few lines a little more carefully, then you might see that I am in agreement with you, on certain issues, at least. 🙂

If someone needs to be provided with proof of the richness and vibrancy of a multicultural community, then I don't reckon they're going to get it she-el.

Your list is incomplete TGSE. Add the following:-

Victor Chang’s killers

John Wayne Glover

Ivan Milat

Gerald Adamson

Mark Walding Turner

Dieter Dresen

Leslie Cunliffe

Karl Koch

Clifford Tucker

Rangi Muir

Andrew Derek Moore

Patricia Toia

Christophe Munster

Raymond Horne

Stefan Nystrom

Timothy Borstrok

Marouna Williams

Aaron Ellmers

Jeremy McLaughlin

Riaz Tasawar

Miho Christian Alavija

The list above includes rapists, murderers, paedophiles and others who don't seem to add much 'richness and vibrancy' (IMHO).

And how is your list relevant.

You asked for proof of how  the people from many and diverse cultures who live here have enhanced our collective experience of life - and I provided it.. Rattling off a list of some who  who failed to do so does not in any way negate that proof.

I coild just as easily compile a list including Ivan Milat, Chris Worrell and Eric Edgar Cooke and say it  proved that men have contributed nothing of value to Australian culture.

that kind of argument  is known as a "non sequitur
