Do you have anything against it?
Why?
What about other religions? Buddhists and Christians, are they ok?

it always makes me laugh when people use the whole our government is based on christian beliefs argument. there is nothing christian about the way our government treats refugees and asylum seekers. i have no problem with people of any race or religion coming to Australia as long as they follow our laws and respect our right to our beliefs and I respect their right to theirs. i live in a very multicultural area as does my mother with all types of restaurants and shops from asian to australian to african to afghani. i have never seen any problems. i have the loveliest indian family as neighbours and i wouldn't have a clue nor care what religion they are. it people just accepted and respected each others differences the world would be a better place

My comment was in regard to the making of an oath in court, not Parliament.

Why should we be against Muslims immigrating to Australia? They have been here just about as long as Europeans have.
On top of that they are just one of the many races and creeds that come out to settle in Australia every year.
I can remember the White Australia Policy and looking back on those days how utterly boring they were with nothing new being added to our culture.. just good old British food, clothes and beliefs.
Now we have such a wide range of foods, clothes and beliefs it has made Australia an exciting place to live and we have now become part of the whole world, not just a little British Colony out and beyong the reach of everyone else, the only Eurpeans on this side of the world with just one language and very little chance of developing another.
I'm all for every race and creed joining us and making us more interesting

Not just Muslims, migrants in general, I don't mind if they want to practice their religion, their wars with each other and some of their religious practices should be left behind eg forced marriages and female circumcision IMO.
Our next head of state had a forced marriage. Circumcision is not a religious practice, and we have been doing it for ever.

I thought our Governor General was Head of State.

I'd rather live amongst a community where there was mutual respect, understanding, tolerance, friendship and non-aggression. I regret to say that these qualities were hard to find amongst something of tne upstanding Oi oi oi aussies that I had the misfortune to live near but were evident in some other recently arrived people of the Muslim faith.

Australia's Head of State is the Queen of Australia, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Under the Australian Constitution, the executive power of the Commonwealth is vested in the Queen and is exercised by the Governor-General as the Queen's representative. The Governor-General is appointed by the Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister of Australia. The Prime Minister is Head of Government.

Any religious practice that does female genital mutilation on innocent children is ignorant & appalling.
Any religion that stone's women to death is ignorant & sickening.
Any religion that hangs young men for being homosexual is ignorant & criminal.
Any religion who hack the heads of 3 Spanish journalists is barbaric.
I could go on & recount atrocities by the millions perpetrated for centuries by ignorant people, but you all get the drift.
I don't see any of these practices perpetrated on people in our country by the Judea/Christian law of our land. It just doesn't happen.
All those who hate our system of law, our traditions & clamour for all christian thought & deed to be removed from all our institutions should think twice before they jettison our civilised practices of law in our country and the human rights of our people.
It's a slippery slope & don't think we are immune from the global jihad that has swept the world.
I believe the great Muslim people who have immigrated to our country are an asset but we are witness every day to young men radicalized in our own country, the middle eastern crime gangs and the sharia law practiced not to mention the so called "cultural cut" that a blind eye is turned to.
