My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.




On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

Puddle, I disagree, I think it will be good for both of them. She is still her mum's mum after all and I have no doubt Amy's mum loves her mother. :-x

Honestly, i think, even when Nan lives in the same facility as Mum...she still wont go and visit very often.

Amy from what you have told us about your Nan, your Mum won't miss what she never had, if you know what I mean.

You have had such a long hard road, Jen is right, you need to look after you. Your Mum is getting the best care possible.

Hi KAren....I am guilty of using my personal experience with my Nan....I wouldn't have wanted her within 3 feet of my Mum in this situation. It would have been all about her..and she would have expected Mum to visit her...seriously:-(

That is really sad Puddle.
I like to think the best of people and I suspect Amy's Nan is feeling very alone and sad, without the daughter she used to have. It will be hard for her as well.
Regardless of what anyone else thinks, they are mother and daughter.

theres no new updates from the weekend.
Everything is at its usual standstill.
I did my call with Mum on FRiday night and got nothing from her.
I dont like doing the calls anymore 😞

maybe she will come good with the calls again soon, amy. i mean if she was able to before then the capacity is still there. its just not showing atm for woteva reason (maybe illness?)

Amy you must have an absolute roller coaster of emotions right now. I urge you to go and see a counsellor. You need to be able to say exactly what you feel to someone not involved, it could make you feel better.

Please take care of yourself and your family.
