My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

Photobucket

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

Dad says Mum has been stable
Dad seems to be getting out and about a bit more.
He's played bowls 4 times this week and went to a garage sale yesterday morning

Amy maybe that conversation you had with your Dad about your Mum getting better helped him sort things out a bit. I know it must be hard, but, life does go on. Bowls is probably your dads salvation. It must be difficult for him balancing visiting your Mum, and living his life. I hope that does not sound callas to you.

Linda- i want Dad to get out more.
I dont want him sitting with Mum all day everyday.
Im really happy he's playing more bowls. Its not good for his health to sit next to her all day.

:)

My Mums update thread

hi Sylvia,

"Amy, keep the faith that you will have your Mum back ....that is my wish for you... "
I cant do that anymore Sylvia. It wasnt good for me. I was in a constant state of stress and depression.
I have accepted that this is my Mum now. I wont have her back the way she was. I have to move on with life, thats what Mum would want.
Now, i hope that she will leave us peacefully, painfree and happy knowing that we will be ok and we love her and are proud of her.

Its what ive had to do to be able to get on with my life and calm myself down.

Amy, I know you are ready now...you have been very, very brave...I admire your courage...you are a wonderful daughter...if you were my daughter I would be very proud of you and all you have done...the best way to honor your Mum is to continue your life the way you know she would want for you to do...

Take Care of Yourself Dear Friend, Sylvia
