My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

Photobucket

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

Dad has been informed that his court case should start in about 2 weeks.

For those who dont know, the passenger of the van that hit Mum is suing for stress. They say they have nightmares. So Dad's solicitor is saying that it wasnt mums fault but was the councils fault for bad pedestrian conditions. Dad is very stressed at the moment. He is worried he will loose and have to pay the compensation to the passenger as well as all the legal fees, which, of course, he cant afford.

Hi Amy, I'm sorry that you have all this going on .I don't know all the details of the accident ... is your Dad's involvement in  Court case as a witness to the accident...rather than it being to establish if your Mum (who was hit while walking across a road ..is that right ? )  could be at fault ?

That must be upsetting for your dad but I can understand why the person is suing, although I expect the travel insurance will be the one paying?

Hello DDB - I hoped your update would be to tell us your mum had left in peace.

I am with Joono - the world truly has gone mad; and I am so very sad for your family that you have to endure this latest assault.

The financial motivation for the action?  This deed makes you look at yourself and the people you love and hope they, would never ever sell their souls to the dollar, to put another family through this for a cent, a hundred or a million.

I hope its thrown out on the first day, in the first hour and shame shame shame on the plaintiffs.

Sometimes it seems that the line between humanity and the animal kingdom going in for the kill, not only blurs more almost daily, and while the latter at least has an integrity and honesty about survival, so many of humankind are for sale to the highest bidder.

So sorry to hear this DDB.

CTP, the one the car owner pays, is who pays compensation for any passengers injured during an accident, this should be the same in the UK?
