My Xmas made

With all the awful things happening I thought I would share a nice story.I have always kept Zebra  finchs as they have such happy little personalities and are very  social with eachother. I have an avery for them.About a month ago  the kid across the street got one male Zebra finch  all on his own and in a little cage about the size of a shoebox . It was given no perch and just had food and water dishs. I was so upset I offered to give them an old cage but they said it was fine .I did at least convince them to give him a stick for a perch and that made his life a bit better but I noticed he has gradualy got scruffy and depressed

today the Dad called out  and asked did I want it as they are going away for Xmas and so want to get rid of it...

Tonight the little guy is in a nice large cage ,he has spent the afternoon flying around with 3 other zebs and had a bath and realy spruced himself up seems to be unable to stop calling out to the others.

I just looked and he  has hopped in the nest basket as if he always slept there ,looks so content

I am going to pray thy do not get any more pets...lousy people

What is it with some people ??? It always enrages me that they can have such disregard for an animal. Dogs, cats birds etc. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have them. 😞

I think the parents are the problem. When he first appeared I thought he would get a new cage at least but the dad just could not see hat he neded one even the free one I offered .I took the little boy out the back already and showed him how the finchs sat on the perch and at least he did that for it and he also started giving it some grass seeds each day i noticed.

When I offered the cage for it the Dad said "oh no its fine Sam will get sick of it soon im sure",I said then that if he did want to rehome it I was happy to take it as I had about 20 already. So im realy glad I offered or who knows it may have been fobbed off to some other kid .

He is in with one other pair and a lady for him but all are in the one basket tonight .I just thought its  so funny the way he has cheered up so fast and calling to any bird that he hears ,I have not heard a peep from him across the street.

Such a lovely story AmalanHeart

And I guess your Christmas will be all the happier for knowing you were able to rescue him.

Hopefully when they get back from vacation they won't ask for the bird back. Especially if the kid gets a chance to see how happy and healthy he is now.

Considering the parent was also a big enough jerk to turn down a bigger better cage, free....4 to 1 odds he planned on asking for the bird back anyway.
