My day

After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Re: My day

Debra, yes I saw the burning trees.

Yesterday turned into a gorgeous summer's evening...today, arrrgh slimy and grey ๐Ÿ˜ž

A very kind gentleman shared his umbrella with me crossing the bridge to get the train this morning at Flinders St. There are still nice people out and about ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: My day

Wow the weather just cant make up its mind!

Hard rubbish is out on the nature strip and instead of putting out all the metal scrap we took a load down to the scrap yard and got $100 for it ๐Ÿ™‚ They never used to pay for loads less than 1 ton but now they do, wouldnt be worth it otherwise.

This afternoon I have an orthodontist appointment for my son and I think the last instalment for his braces. A few months reprieve from paying those and then it will be my daughters turn lol.

Time for a shower to wash all the dirt and rust smudges off ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: My day

My sister got the call today that after 3 years waiting for emergency housing they finally have one for her. She's not exactly overjoyed, she recently changed preferences for areas and they hadnt submitted all the paperwork correctly so she's going to an area she's not overly happy with. Beggars cant be choosers though so she'll have to make the most of it.

Looks like I'll have the challenge of going through her stuff and helping her pack and move...she's a bit of a hoarder. She'll also be really freaked out about having to change the kids schools etc, one of them just started karate yesterday that will have to stop now. She doesnt deal with change very well so it will be a stressful time for her.

Re: My day

Punchy, could she get a letter from her GP stating her anxiety about the move and the upheavel for the children together with a request to be housed in such and such area?

Re: My day

Dunno if that would work freddie, she's been living in emergency housing for victims of domestic violence for 3 years now. The housing ministry dont mind if she says no to the house and she wont lose her place on the list they just need to get that paperwork in for the other area, but the people running the place she's in now have pretty much said take it or she has to look for private rental. She cant afford that and has no references anyway.

Although its not an area she wants to be, there will be some positives like having 4 bedrooms instead of 3, one kid sleeps in the loungeroom at the moment. More than likely it will have a backyard bigger than the single garage size yard she has now. I just hope its close enough to schools and shops for her because she doesnt drive.

She had a little tiff with the housing lady on the phone before so she still doesnt have the address, but if she gets it soon I'm gonna drive down there and suss the place out. See if I can find some positives to ease her mind a bit.

I should have added that we understand their position, there is probably somebody needing the house she's in too. It just doesnt lessen the stress for her about the move. She wasnt overjoyed about being where she is now either, but she adapted.

Re: My day

Once again she will probably adapt, unfortunately in the position she's in she will need to suck it up and make the best of the situation. In time lets hope she will grow to like her new home and area.

Re: My day

I just wish we'd know about it last week before I picked the new nursing home for dad. I chose one that she could walk to but she wont be able to now. I guess some things fall into place at the right time and others dont.

Re: My day

Anxiety can be managed, hopefully she loses one lot of stress and can adapt to the other. I am guessing the nursing home choices were more limited, can she get some psychology appointments for anxiety on the mental health plan?
