After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

Maybe reconsider as I fear later you may wish to sell and the prospective buyer will most likely require a building inspection that will pick up a rather major issue resulting in difficulty to sell.
Having built 2 houses in past as owner builder and being married to a tradesman plus running a plumbing business a little knowledge has been learnt.
Good luck. Must check on my rice pudding in the oven

Weird weather that we are getting everyday in NSW (usually what we get in Jan and Feb... high humidity, rain, thunder, super-cell storms) is expected to continue for another week at least...urgh.

Apparently Wang received 50mm in less than an hour, when I lived there, it's was on stage 5 water restrictions. Our local fire authority is predicting a severe fire season for this region, so although rain is good for the farmers around here, it's also causes too much under growth in the bush areas, which is not a good thing a this time of the year.

Good morning to the early risers 🙂
Quite windy and cool outside, just lit the fire to warm both me and the house, very weird start to Summer

Good morning bushie and everyone else.
I was so sorry to hear of the bathroom problems freddie. Glad you have someone to check things out though. Have you already paid the cowboy?
How's hour daughter Deb? A bit of mum attention probably helped.
Didn't get in yesterday - left early for Melbourne with my dil. She wanted to go to Ikea and we didn't get home until nearly 5. I had a visitor until 6.15 then had to get ready to go out for dinner for a Christmas breakup with 3 other couples - we all went to the Mildura Music Festival together in September - then didn't get home until after 11.
Bushie, they had a lovely claw bath in Ikea and I thought of you. It was only a short one and could fit across your bathroom if you have a blank wall. It was black with white claw feet. I took a photo but have to try and get it off my phone.
I'm feeling a lot better now - ended up taking the antibiotics for the UTI and that has eased and taking cortisone for the asthma so raring to go again. We have another dinner tomorrow night with our craft group then Frank has a lunch and dinner breakup on Tuesday for his volunteer jobs.
I was given a Lions Club Christmas cake last night so might put some icing on it and decorate it for Christmas. I don't eat fruit cake - too much sugar, but Frank and my daughter love it.
Hope your dog's foot is OK BC. Have a good day everyone ... time for coffee.

Wow Sandy, sounds like a busy few days for you. Pleased you are feeling better, uti's are the pits 😞
The claw bath sounds lovely, would love to see a pic. I have never been to Ikea, the stores are just too far away from me

Well, I've read through all the posts. Wow there are some major reno problems. I thought Freddie would be singing "I"m gonna wash that man right out of my hair" under her shower by now.
It's so unfortunate that a few "cowboy builders" are out there. I don't know if it still the case, but it used to be fairly easy to get a builder's licence. A tradesman (painter, plumber, carpenter, etc.) used to sit for a few tests and were issued a Builder's Licence. And the Master Builder's Assoc and the Housing Industry Association were like their union bosses. Purely to stand by the members who paid fees - and not very much in favour of the client. Sit for a few more tests, pay the fees and they could be a Pre-purchase Building Inspector. And unfortunately too, some of the better tradesmen are working in the mining industry now.
Now Joono, they are major cracks. It is usual for hairline cracks from time to time. Not the size of those for a home built on a slab floor. It appears to me that the builder/concreter didn't adhere to the Structural Engineers drawings for the pouring of footings and slab, or the quality of the concrete may be doubtful. Is there a Minining Subsidence Board for the area? I think you mentioned that a wooden house used to stand there. The timber takes a bit more movement than brick houses (see the earthquake areas of America have mostly timber houses). I believe patching will be purely cosmetic. From my experience, the diagonal corner to that that has cracks is where investigation needs to begin.
Anyway, it is up to you whether you go ahead with formal claims and investigations; but I would start with the Structural Engineer, and ask him whether he was on site for the pouring of the concrete and that the reo mesh and chairs was according to specifications . Council inspections are virtually non-existent now and issue a statement similar to "all appears ok as long it is built according to the plans issued/stamped".
Bushie, my advice to you is -DON'T DO ANYTHING IN THAT ROOM AT ALL apart from having a shower/washing and mopping the floor. If there is any evidence that you hit a nail in the wall for a picture that could be used against you - they will try anything to lessen the claim.
Sandy, hope you're on the mend.
Am, that flower is beautiful. Might have to look into them a bit more.
Bluecat, the number of days is lessening for that load to be gone from your surrounds.
b3, are you rural or in town?
Amber, you go to concerts, etc like I watch TV
Bushie, my daylillies still haven't flowered, but my plants have very thin strap leaves that droop, so are quite different to yours.
Will report back on my doings for the past week later.

Debra, I like that you have kept the era for your bathrooms. And looks to be a beautiful job and selection of materials. Well Done

No garden work here today, hasn't stopped raining for many hours. Bunnies will be staying I their hutch and dogs refuse to go out. At least the sewing I need to finish will get done.
