I agree Am, they are an attractive plant whether they are flowering or not. I don't really know why, but I prefer camellias over rhododendrons

They are tougher than rhodoes.

Bushie, plums can be stewed and frozen very successfully.
My mother was the only one who liked plums (Dad did not like any fruit at all) so she always bought enough to freeze to keep herself going for months.
Dad finally allowed me to clean out his freezer about 5 years after Mum died and I found several lots of stewed plums lurking in the back. The neighbour was quite happy to take them and later reported they were very good.
As far as I know she did nothing special to them.

Thanks Lyndal lol your dad sounds just like my hubby, he doesnt eat fresh fruit either. I am swapping some plum for some apricots, so I will do the same with them. I also have a tree laden with nectarines which I dont like, so the neighbours will be getting those.

I used to freeze apricots and peaches uncooked. Just took the stone out, cut them into pieces. Put the frozen block in pot with a little water and cooked them when needed. No sugar either.
Thank you for that am3. I have a supermarket bag full of apricots sitting on my bench. Wasn't sure what to do with them. They are rather small and not all that inviting, I will just sit down this evening and halve them for freezing.

Good evening My Dayers!
Love the idea of a camelia screen for privacy.
I think you can get different types of camelias for different conditions so I guess anyone could do this?? (thinking of our place down south - Oh has suggested we put a hedge on across the front to give us more yard space and privacy, I was talking fences and one of those automatic sliding gates!)
Oh dear
Sad to hear about the car accident but so glad no-one was hurt. It is so easy to get distracted in slow moving traffic! I have run up the backside of someone when we were creeping along at about 5 kph because I didnt notice they had stopped - thankfully the only damage was to my number plate!
Loving the cool and the rain, but the humidity is doing me in. I have my aircon running on "Dry" most of the time just so I can breath!
I have been very busy! I managed to get all the re-painting done that I wanted to here, and have about half finished doing all the timber work (skirting boards, door frames and doors) with O'Cedar polish / oil - the ones I have done look great! OH gets home next week and that's when this place will go on the market... fingers crossed it sells for what we want.... the market here is only just starting to slowly pick up after it slumped dramatically just after we bought 7 years ago.
Annnndddd
I tried out that rhubarb relish recipe today
