My day

After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Re: My day

It's not just regional areas who are being goouged.  The prices in Darwin are ridiculously high and they can't blame transport costs because it is shipped through Darwin port!

ACCC has never been able to do anything before - will be interesting to see if they can now.

Yes, I always get a bit of a shock when I go to Darwin.

Even more when I head out East.

"ACCC has never been able to do anything before"

Not sure that is true, they reigned in Coles and Woolworths in short order, stopping them offering crazy discounts.

Don't be surprised if they do get something done, even if only Vic and NSW at the start.

Re: My day

Morning.  Aps and Amber up early?  Or on leftovers from yesterday?  Ordered the dirndl yet?

It's nice and cool this morning, but a hint of humidity and heat to come.

Good to see you about b3; and I would have thought you'd know how Freddie and Mr Tapemeasureman are going.  Do you pick up your OH at Port Macq or Newcastle?

Sandy I read somewhere you've got birthdays all around this month.  Take it easy with the gallivanting around.

Stawks and the little cartoons/clips, such a humourous person who brightens our day.

Bushie.  The "stepping up" soon.  When are the tradesman due to fix the flooring problem?  Can't wait to hear about the secret bathroom plans.  I'm on tenterhooks, what with the pine purchase and all.  Wainscoting?

Better put the washing on.  Back later on.

Yoohoo to those MIAHeart

Morning all.

Dawn is cool and clody here today.

Got to drive over to the other side of town to pick up "1984" for my GF's son for school.

Good to see the reading list hasn't changed in 30 years Smiley LOL

Re: My day

Good morning everyone - still raining a little here but the air is nice and fresh.

B3, I think the humidity caused lots of foliage growth and not so much produce.  Our beans were dwarf ones but the leaf growth was twice as much as usual.

aps, it will be interesting to see if anything is done with petrol prices.  When we went away for a few days last week, the further away we got from the city, the dearer the petrol.  In Mallacoota is was $1.38 per litre.

I have both the grandies for an hour this morning while my dil goes to physio classes for strengthening the pelvic floor - she has had a problem since the last one was born.  They are coming for dinner tonight - they usually come Friday night but we have been invited to a bbq.

I do hope all the MIA's are OK ..... have a good day everyone.

Re: My day

Aps, it is a book for the young students to keep forever.  And read every 5 years or so, I think.  This is the first time I've read it.  I'm stunned with it.  We had Treasure Island and Animal Farm (that I can remember) at high school.

Still haven't read them completely.  A bit of rebellion at being told what to read - and I've read thousands of books.Smiley Embarassed

And yet, I can still recite RL Stevenson poetry that I learnt at the age of 6/7.

Re: My day

lloyd

The funny thing was, I read 1984 at the same time Pink Floyd, the Wall came out and if you remember the video,

kids / hammers marching, kids being put through the meat grinder, being told what to do, 1984 and that video

have for me always been tied together.

Video is worth watching again. Reminds me of Nazi Germany rallies as well.

I loved Animal Farm. I still have it, and his other books.

For some reason, I couldn't find my copy of 1984, hence why we had to buy it again.
