After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

My day

I have to do some grocery shopping tomorrow Debra, as it's NYE I am assuming the supermarkets will be crowded, so not looking forward to going. To be honest, I think I am "shopped out", this has been a year of needing to buy so much for this house, so it's been back and forth each week to the shops to get this or that, I think I need some down time lol

One thing we don't need here today is a lounge room fire!. Very hot (31+ degrees), dry and windy. The tourist are all licking icecreams which are melting faster than they can eat them.

I had to walk further (car parks full) to the farmers market.. bit sizzled when I got back.

bluecat - for the old textbooks, if they are out of date, recycling them might be the only option. I had/have these dilemmas with what to do with that sort of stuff too.

Sounds like a plan Freddie, much less expense for not that much saving. We thought the same when we looked into solar, it was prob ok when the government was handing out huge incentives but not now, for us it's just not worth the extra cost. The HSW here is not all that old, so we thought why replace it?

Good evening Dayers!

Freddie, we recently had to replace the HW system on our house down south. After talking things over with the suppliers we ended up going with the same sort of system that was there originally. They told us that if we got a solar hot water, we would have to stay on the house for about 20 years to get any value back on the extra cost as there would only be the two of us living there.!

I went to see The Water Diviner today, great movie. Gives you a bit of perspective on exactly how tough it was for everyone - the turks lost about 3 times as many men as we did.

At the end they give statistics for dead and wounded across all the battlefields, and end with 8 million people are still missing. My uncle (my Dad's eldest brother) is one of those.... Dad didn't really remember him (he was only about 2 when his brother left) but my Grandmother looked for him coming home until the day she died.

B3 I saw that on Saturday night....good wasnt it? Bit different to what I expected, the scenes on the battlefield were quite gutwrenching, a bit different to your normal war scenes.

Was your Uncle at Gallipoli or elsewhere? Do you know they are finding more remains in France and DNA testing them before they lay them to rest in a new cemetery? There's been a lot of research put into studying exactly where the battlefields were and they seem to be having a lot of success finding the lost soldiers. Not that they'll ever find 8 million, but any they can identify is a good thing.

Hi b3 yes that's what I thought about the solar set up as well and getting a new one so quickly at this time of year was excellent. I remember the Princess when she was still living in her home about 7yrs ago needing to buy a new HWS and from memory she paid not much less then this one will be.

I haven't been to the movies in so long Mr F isn't a keen movie goer. We are off to the S tomorrow night for dinner, should be enjoyable thanks to RW. Smiley LOL

Your poor Grandmother, that's so sad we don't realise how lucky we are never to have been faced with the trauma of war.

Tas, Mr F cooked me a steak on the BBQ tonight, he didn't need the umbrella for the rain but it was about 35deg out there Woman Surprised

Had a bit of a scare earlier, walked out into the back yard and couldn't find one of the hounds, called his name no response, looked all around the yard, kept calling his name, no response. Mr B walked up and down the road looking for him, came home and there he was sitting on the front verandah, phew.  I havent go a clue how he got out  as he cant climb/jump the fences and both the side gates were closed.

What a lovely pale golden glow on the horizon 5 minutes ago. Absolutely love being up at this time in the morning

when the sky is lighter on one side than the other.

Anyway, looks like it is going to be a ripper of a day, hope you all have a good one.

Hiya Aps.

The magpies beat the kookaburras this morning.  Golly reminds of the House Names at primary school along with rosellas and eagles.

A little overcast here this morn; glorious day yesterday with warm sun and sea breezes.

I wonder if Bushies dog was under the house rather than escaped.  Bit worrying, all the same.
