After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Deb, most of your Tally is self explanatory but please explain the Lost Postman...that has me intrigued.  I hope you mean he is just lost in the debris.Smiley Surprised

We were very lucky...the neighbours gum tree is still standing although it has been very well pruned by the wind with the debris still covering our front lawn.  I have cleaned up the front porch and back courtyard but the old knees and back will not allow me to tackle the lawn just yet.

OH will have to tackle that over the weekend.....I hope we don't get the forecast showers.

Apart from the inconvenience of 2 short blackouts and one longer one of a few hours we have not had any serious damage apart from a couple of dislodged tiles on the garage roof allowing some water to drip down inside the roller door.  My main complaint is being unable to record a couple of TV programs due to the antenna being at a very peculiar angle....reception is up to putty....but that is minor in comparison to what some areas have suffered.....just an inconvenience really.

Smiley LOLYep, Mr Postie had to make a detour!

And yes again, Lyndal, the knees are really sore with the added weight of the.......gumboots.  Back not too bad.  I know my upper arm muscles will be complaining in the morning  from using a bush saw.

Discovered why the pittosporum collapsed.  The street drain got blocked and water torrented along the neighbour's driveway and combined with the water falling from an unguttered, illegal kiddies double story taj mahal playhouse targetted that plants roots.  Still have to think about water diversions and then staking.

In the scheme of things, not too bad at all.

Oh and one more thing.  The local Council mayor opened the councillor bathroom facilities for locals who had no hot water for bathing.

Good to hear the tree is still up, Lyn. I was thinking about that last night when it was windy here.

let us know when the postie is back on schedule Deb ๐Ÿ™‚

I can't do bandaids. I hate glue on my skin. The last time I used one was when I almost cut the top of a finger off. The worst thing about that was wearing elastoplast for a week or so.

My day

G'day Dayers!

Seems everyone has got through the lousy weather OK... the bad news is they are forescasting more of the same this weekend, but a bit further north Smiley Sad I do hope that it isn't as bad as what some of my friends have been through - one in the Newcastle hinterland has JUST had her power re-connected after 8 days!!!

I have an almost complete kitchen! First meal cooked was on Saturday night after OH and DYD got back from visiting OH's dad ( a WWII British Navy veteran) and taking hime to both the dawn service and then pushing him for the march ( he's 89!) - I stayed here to pet sit - and unpack a gazillion boxes.......

Still got about the same to go!

Good progress in your kitchen b3.

Yes, more wet weather coming. Tomorrow supposed to be as good as today was.

8 days without power ... can't imagine that. Ours went off here in Kiama for about 30 seconds in the evening.. that was enough!

Good Morning

B3 Well done re your kitchen, sounds like you are starting to make some headway, which is great  ๐Ÿ™‚

Lyndal  Each year Portland RSL creates a magnificent floral tribute to those who tragically lost their lives, this yr was no exception. I didnt take the pic but thought it was worth sharing.

Heaps of lovely rain falling here atm, my garden is loving it, as are our farmers. More bulbs planted, also Flanders poppies, given my ( apparently ) lack of gardening skills, I am hoping they will do well.

My day

I'm sooooo sick of painting.....

I decided that today when I was doing the prep work on the replaced cornice in the new kitchen - it's such a pain to have to put drop sheets EVERYWHERE to protect surfaces... and as the weather has turned so much colder, the patched up bits of the walls / joins etc. is taking soooo much longer to dry out. So it will take a couple of days to get that little bit of painting done...

*sigh*

On a happier note, yesterday I finally managed to get the bulbs I bought a couple of months ago planted into the narrow bed along the path to the house and across the front bedroom! I think the daffodils will survive - not sure if they will actually flower, but the bulbs looked healthy. Not so sure about most of the freesias.... they looked a little bit tired. And I also planted out the day lilies I have had in pots, fingers crossed they all flower, the scent would be wonderful!

And I have to hope the neighbourhood cats continue to dislike the wet ground, and that they REALLY dislike wet sugar cane mulch and leave the gardens alone!

Bulbs in! Great ๐Ÿ™‚

painting is slow and tedious at the best of times but the results are worth it.
