My day

Goodmorning all, we have a scorcher ahead today 37deg is not my kind of a lovely day. It's pamper day for the Princess today I think I may slip out this morning before the heat gets too much. We ended up buying a lovely vanity mirror from Bunnings yesterday, I had given up on the cane mirror being still active. Wouldn't you know it the owner contacted me from her location at the moment PERU she's over there teaching but will be home on the 25th. I don't need it now, I think the Bunnings mirror would look nicer.

Re our shower screen, when we ordered it from a display at Masters it had a splash back on one wall, the sales rep asked us what colour splash back we wanted from a list, from memory 6 colour's we chose white. Well we find out after we get the screen home there is no splash back, Mr F goes to Masters to inquire about the missing splash only to be told that wasn't part of the deal. I'm pretty peeved off about this, we ordered our tiles excluding that wall... I was tossing up prior to this if I wanted to use it or tile that wall, I had decided to wait and see how it looked when the time came, that's if we had enough tiles left to actually tile that wall. So now it looks like we will need to order and wait for another box of tiles. Woman Frustrated

Off to do a bit of ironing before the heat hits. Take care with your asthma Sandy.

You and fireman bushie entertaining the hounds?  In what way, may I be so bold to ask?  Smiley Embarassed

Your "cottage look" sounds wonderful and in the right sort of house in which it suits ideally.  Your purchases and gains sound just right.  And a new potato growing vessel.  (I think it should have the plug in, add water, place a water lily, stand back and admire.):smileyvery-happy:

One thing that really appeals to me with a verandah on a cottage.  An old pre-loved toy.  Be it a small rocking horse, or an old trike.  Just for that added "homely" look.Heart  I happen to have a rocking kangaroo on my deck.  And not a child within cooee.

Hello Tassie, and you to Joono - some of the water filters around here are clogging up with golden silky oak blossoms.  Generally, all those that have a certain "wow" factor display,  trees seem to have performed well this year.  (Not to be too scientific, I wonder if Mother Nature is setting seeds for a harsh summer.)

I see Freddie has another little challenge to overcome with tiles.  I'm pleased the mirror is sorted out.  Hope Mr tapemeasureman is taking it easy.

I'd better get outside to check up on things before the blasting heat arrives.

Darn re the the splash back Freddie, sounds strange that the salesperson would make that kind of "mistake", is it worth speaking to the manager? Shame re the mirror sounds like you have a nicer one now ....

DEB I love your posts, so imaginative and inspirational .... I am "banned" from putting anything else on the front verandahs or there wont be room for US lol

I bought some little cup hooks last week, am going to tread some wire along them and train the Banksia roses to grow across the top part of the verandah, which will make it look more "cottagey" I hope.

Starting to warm up here not as hot as up north but warm enough for me. There was a largish grass fire not far from here yesterday, heard the CFA and fire truck sirens and wondered what was happening, hope it's not the start a bad fire season ๐Ÿ˜ž

My day

Good morning "my day" people.

Love reading through this thread, a little glimpse into everyones daily life.

I haven't taken any pics for ages but will try to take some of all the gerberas that are looking gorgeous now that the horrible purple vine thing has been ripped out.  Will have to keep an eye on any new shoots.

I'm slowly getting more and more ticked off the list, great feeling.  Not feeling so overwhelmed by it all now.  Having a rest day today, have a good book, a comfy couch and plenty of coffee, so I'm all set !

Think it's rare for renos to not have any hiccups freddie but what a bugga about the screen, especially when it's so hot down there and you'd probably love to jump in the shower during the day....hope it's not too long before it can be finished.

I read so many posts, I can't remember them all now lol.......but enjoy whatever you're all doing today.

My day

It is funny, isn't it.  We must appear to some that we brag about our chores.  Those thankless, wonder-if-anybody-will-notice things that we do.

But perhaps, whilst we're doing them we think of entertaining ways to share the sometimes "automated" parts of life with others.  And we notice other things and our surroundings at the same time.

It shakes the "tediousness"  out of the mat and replaces it with "welcome, let's do it together".

.....     .....     .....     .....

I like gerberas, a wonderful "old fashioned" flower that has been brought out from behind more glamorous florals.  In fact, my daughter had them in her bouquet.  Look forward to any piccies.  And happy gerbera faces should interrupt our written words nicely.

Isn't it good to be ticking off a list.  Accomplishments.  Justifiable rests.

Enjoy your afternoon everyone.

My day

I like gerberas but they are my daughter's favourite flower.  Look forward to the photos soul.

Deb, I don't know about you but I have never been more appreciative of our surroundings, country etc. than I am as I grow older.  I think walking every day has helped my appreciate our wildlife, nature etc.  and I am really glad I am still here to see it.

Woo Hoo - I have done what I can with the cake until I get the large bottom tier.  I wont even put the top tier on the middle one as it makes it too hard to put the two of them joined together onto the bottom one.  It is easier to build up from the bottom.  That means I haven't piped around the bottom edge or put any flowers on as both will sit on the tier underneath it.  I quite pleased with how it is coming long even though it is not my choice of a wedding cake.  I do notice, as I age, my work is not as fine as it used to be.  I used to make lace out of royal icing then stick it on 1 piece at a time.  Don't do that anymore.

I am waiting for our daugher to call in - she lives in Melbourne but teaches dance up here, usually of a Saturday but because the local show was on yesterday, she is up today.  We then intend to visit the friend who's sitting on a time bomb before having an easy Sunday dinner.

Hope you're are all enjoying your day - it is a beautiful day here in the Latrobe Valley.

My day

Hi soul,

We are only 10mins drive to T & C's for a shower when we need it. The lady in charge of the Bathroom section the day we ordered the shower screen actually drew a picture on the back of the print out for the vanity we chose. That picture has the drawing with the white plashback marked on it plus the right hand opening door we ordered clearly marked, she took that over to the guy who does the ordering whilst we checked out other things, she bought that drawing back to us, I have it here so we have the proof we were told that was included, the one on display was a red splashback. Grrrrr

Glad to hear you are getting the 'to do list' looking smaller, it's a **bleep**py job packing and moving. We have settled into out place and loving fixing it up the way we want it. Did you know my Tamworth Brother passed away on Anzac Day? I'm hoping the reno will be done and dusted by Thursday/Friday soul, then I will snap snap some pictures to share. Woman Very Happy

I told her about the arrangements for her B'Day dinner today. She doesn't know about other family members who are going to arrive from Tamworth Woman Very Happy She thinks it's just Mr F myself my son and DIL. Woman LOL
