My day

After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Freddie, do you have Home Assist where you live?  They have a list of tradespeople who they recommend for older people.

I have used a few of them and most were excellent.  And they do not try to rip people off, because they will lose their reputation with Home Assist.

I had a plumber (from their list) who put a new vanity unit in, and it was not level. I got him back, but the next morning it fell off the wall.  I cut my losses and got another plumber who was wonderful.

I wrote a letter to Home Assist, giving a grade to each tradesman.  I told them about that plumber, they were very grateful to get the feedback.  I bet he has been banished from their recommended list.

By the way, some services from Home Assist are free, apart from materials used.  For example, a handyman will fix something free of charge if he doesn't need to supply anything.

No we don't have anything like that here.

I used "the green army" a few years ago for some electrical work, semi retired tradesmen. He was ok but not less expensive, (and his pants needed a belt) so these days I generally rely on word of mouth, fb pages etc.

My gyprocker came this morning and sanded my wall and cornice ๐Ÿ™‚ and asked where my daughter was, lol.

Freddie My building inspector is also a licensed builder but I am not sure if it is obligatory as he works as a consultant not as a builder.

Home Assist is a Queensland Government initiative.  I'm sure there would be similar in other states.

I've just been catching up on some reading here.

Freddie, I'm so sorry that cowboy has done that to you.

I'm fed up with my house too and it was built by a supposedly high end company but when they are busy they will hire any contractors to get a job done.

Last night I felt like taking photos of all the cracks in the walls and cornices and sending them off but I don't suppose they will be interested now.

A whole chunk of plaster fell out of the wall yesterday when I was cleaning cobwebs.

I went through a big hooha with them complaining about the cornices when they first went in but they said it's always like that and then they are patched and painted and not to panic.  Well wrong.  After a few years they were all in a hell of a mess again.

Joono, I believe new builds are meant to have a long guarantee for licensed builders. I would check the timing.

bluecat, I have had a couple of things happen to my back. The last was a car accident this year which left me numb for months. Had to relearn how to get around. Have sciatica from some damage.

been catching up on the news here ๐Ÿ™‚

bushie, we are too apprehensive to get our bathroom done. After seeing Debra's thinking of getting it started myself.
