My mother is very upset.

My mother phoned me this morning most upset at what she had been told by one of the other residents in her retirement village.

Days of Our Lives will be taken off air in Australia from Friday 26th.

She has been watching this show for as long as I can remember.

It's true Maine, my mother mentioned the same thing to me, not that I watch it, but it seems a poor decision to remove such a long standing show.

I have never been one for soap operas but I know my mother always used to watch the likes of Days of our Lives, The Young and Restless, General Hospital, Bold and Beautiful etc.

Quite a few of her friends will be very upset and I imagine a great many women in Australia who are addicted to this show are of the same opinion. Myself, I could never see the attraction to it. Perhaps if I had watched it right from the start as I think mother has I might think differently.

My mum's gone now but she watched from the beginning to 2002. If she had to go out during the day she would make sure that she was home for her "Days Our Life", as she called it.

English was not her first language but for some reason she could understand most of what was going on. When I was a kid on school holidays we would watch it together and she could tell me who was who and what was going on. Later when we got our first VCR I taught her how to record her show, no mean feat considering she couldn't read English.

Funny you should mention Terracotta that your mum watches it and that she is an English as a second language lady... 

believe it or not these shows are very important to immigrant ladies as it does help with their grasp of English.. 

my mum learnt her English by listening to radio stations and watching tv many years back.

Not only is this show going to paid TV but so are the BBC Tv shows....

I think that it is sad we are going to lose a lot of good programs..

I won't be going to pay Tv.. I can't afford it.. instead I am going to Torrenting.. something I have never done before but will do now...
