it was in the act of being 'retored' i'd bet the truth will be some kind of electical fault in something the retorers were using.

you wouldnt really want to be the boss of the company doing the restoration today.

we are looking at billions of $ damage, and honestly you cant rebuild a building like that and call it fixed.

Sooooo sad.

850 years of history gone.

I am also guessing some tools or something from the restoration has sparked the fire.

It's a very sad thing to see historical buildings like that being destroyed by the elements.

Hubs and I visited Notre Dame a few years back...the history just seeps in to you...

Then again, it's been changed and damaged and restored many times over the centuries. I'm sure It can recover from this setback.
