Labor MP Jo Haylen wants sniffer dogs retired from music festivals, and pills tested for ‘safety’

LABOR’S rookie inner west MP has called for sniffer dogs to be banned and illegal party drugs to actually be tested at music festivals to ensure they were safe for young people to take.

“Kids smoking pot or taking pills at music festivals won’t go away,” Summer Hill MP Jo Haylen said in her speech to colleagues at Labor’s state conference.

“Rather than ruining lives with a criminal record or, worse still, leaving people to take risks on their own, let’s be brave.

“Let’s introduce amnesty bins and pill testing at festivals so we’re not putting people at risk.

“Let’s retire sniffer dogs so we’re not unnecessarily targeting vulnerable people on our streets.

“Let’s decriminalise the possession and use of drugs and get the debate back on track — let’s get drug users out of cop cars and into the health system.”

Why not make it mandatory for signs at music festivals advising patrons that taking drugs of an unknown origin may result in death.

That would be just like the "don't touch wet paint" sign on the park bench people would still sit on it.

And it's way too late for a useless sign when people are taking all their drugs before going to avoid the dogs. This is why they are overdoses

That's a good idea...

Get the patrons to hand them in for testing......and then advise them that their illegal party drugs are not safe.  On the spot fines?

So all these high flyers we hear about who party and dabble in drugs are not INTELLIGENT?

I would much prefer to believe they think - they are invinsible and nothing bad will ever happen to them.

Their outlook on life must be pretty barren if they need chemicals to have fun. Serves them right if they get caught.

Yet to demonstrate definitively that pheromones are at work, researchers need to point to the molecules responsible, which they have not yet done. To date, scientists have collected evidence for possible pheromone effects but have not definitively identified a single human pheromone.  Scientific American
