Great. Health care on the cheap. Let's hear about the ALP's plan to import witch doctors to diagnose and treat various maladies.

That's just nasty. But I'm not surprised.

  • Colds, sore throats and flu;
  • Ear wax
  • Cuts and abrasions;
  • Bites and Stings;
  • Skin conditions;
  • Casts;
  • Minor illness such as gastroenteritis; and
  • Minor injuries.

Seriously though, what are people doing going to hospitals with most of those anyway. Aren't emergency departments for emergencies?

I tried to see a doctor in Deniliquin once and they wouldnt see me because I wasnt an existing patient, they tried to send me to the hospital with a sore throat Smiley Frustrated No way I'd tie up hospital resources with something so insignificant, I went to the chemist and bought some over the counter stuff and put up with the pain for a couple of days.

Yes they are. it's just that medicine as a for-profit business, means that increasingly, people cannot afford to see their local doctor.

Nationalise medicine and have done with it. make doctors well paid salaried employees of the state. and get rid of private practice where the rich can afford to bump those less well off to the back of the queue. Treat people on a needs basis.

I think it is a fantastic idea.  The closer hospital to us has huge waiting times before you see a doctor because of people that are there on the weekend when their doctor's office is closed or else they can't afford the fee because their doctor doesn't bulk bill.

It means with a broken bone you need to wait for four hours to get help because of patients that need a couple of stitches or a dose of Gastrolyte. Not that everyone doesn't need help on the weekend when these things always happen.

I hope we get a few clinics in Perth.

I have to agree with martini.I don't think Foley's been in long enough for people to form an opinion of him.On top of that,Baird probably earned himself some brownie points during the Lindt Cafe siege.He handled that situation competently.
