CHILDCARE centres will face fines for enrolling unvaccinated children, in tough new measures by the government raise the NSW vaccination rate.
New laws to strengthen the public health act passed through cabinet last night, and it is understood the coalition joint party room approved the changes.
The amendments to the Public Health Act include allowing childcare centres and preschools to ban unvaccinated children and obliging centres to formally report any unvaccinated children. It is understood centres who enrol unvaccinated children may be fined.
If a parent has a “genuine objection” to vaccination they can apply for exemptions, but they would have to provide proof from their GP or immunisation nurse.
It is understood genuine objections could include religious reasons or doctor’s advice that child would have a severe reaction to the vaccine.
The government will introduce the legislation today and it is expected to be fully endorsed by the opposition.

I voted yes.
Im sick of idiots not vaccinating their children. I know all the conspiracy theories surrounding it- and I call bs.
This is the best defence we have atm.

do u have the right to run the risk of infecting another child, what if that child got seriously ill or even worse died after being in contact with your child ?
would u pay the medical bills for another child because of your negligence ?
I am glad someone has made the hard decision but honestly LL could u not just have said great news instead of your usual dig ? You really seem to have a problem and I am sad for you.

I have no problem with children not being vaccinated due to medical grounds. But I do think there has to be some form of proof that there is an issue, not just that someone down the road knows someone who's nephew had a bad reaction.
There are no religious or philosophical reasons that can justify not vaccinating, IMO.

Will we now see a push for mandatory vaccination boosters for all adults? Hope so.

TS: "I voted no. Do we need to be told what we can and can not do? What next? "
Yes TS, law does just that (and common sense) OK for yourself without any medical knowledge CS, but as for others your ignorance/indoctrination could be fatal for them.
