CHILDCARE centres will face fines for enrolling unvaccinated children, in tough new measures by the government raise the NSW vaccination rate.
New laws to strengthen the public health act passed through cabinet last night, and it is understood the coalition joint party room approved the changes.
The amendments to the Public Health Act include allowing childcare centres and preschools to ban unvaccinated children and obliging centres to formally report any unvaccinated children. It is understood centres who enrol unvaccinated children may be fined.
If a parent has a “genuine objection” to vaccination they can apply for exemptions, but they would have to provide proof from their GP or immunisation nurse.
It is understood genuine objections could include religious reasons or doctor’s advice that child would have a severe reaction to the vaccine.
The government will introduce the legislation today and it is expected to be fully endorsed by the opposition.

you need to be well informed regarding vaccination what it does and doesn't do before asking such questions. are you aware that you can pass on an illness regardless of being vaccinated?
do u have the right to run the risk of infecting another child, what if that child got seriously ill or even worse died after being in contact with your child ?
would u pay the medical bills for another child because of your negligence ?
I am glad someone has made the hard decision but honestly LL could u not just have said great news instead of your usual dig ? You really seem to have a problem and I am sad for you.

Wonder how many adults here are up to date with the recommanded doses
Will we now see a push for mandatory vaccination boosters for all adults? Hope so.

Don't see why not. Even if they send reminders whenever the time frame is about to run out so people know. A few years ago I had no idea I needed boosters for these basics.

Are you aware that a newborn, who isn't old enough to be fully vaccinated against these insidious diseases can die because someone decided to not vaccinate their child because of "insert non-verified medical reason here*?

Most people don't seem to know they require boosters. The information is hard to find and not made visible at doctors/hospitals etc.

I would be interested to see the proof of this occurring. So far there is not a lot done to pinpoint where they have contracted it. Generally it has been from an unvaccinated adult family member and hospital staff, going on what I have read so far.

I think you missed the bigger part. No longer able to pass on. Or are children exempt?
And btw, you don't carry diptheria, whooping cough.
Actually, cbf. You're right. Always are.
