Did anyone take the opportunity to visit their local mosque today? I couldn't, unfortunatly, because, we don't have one yet in Bunbury, but I'd love to hear from anyone who did go along for a look.

Do you refuse to go to church weddings on the same basis?
i know a lot of ppl who choose
to miss the religious ceremony and
attend reception only (myself included)
during the mosque open day, ppl
were invited to attend the midday
prayer.
cant imagine many atheists going
to mass, can you? lol
can't believe ppl have a problem with
someone not wanting to go to a place
of warship
Well I was actually asking djlukjilly, but seeing as you seem to have appointed yourself spokesperson - I don't have a problem with anyone going or not going anywhere. I am just curious about the reasoning being applied.
btw I am an atheist but I've been to catholic mass heaps of times. I just don't participate. It would probably be the same if I was invited to attend a Muslim "service" (sorry, I'm not sure of the correct terminology). I'd go, but not participate.

you're confusing culture with
religion, forgetting that more and
more australians are becoming
secular.

so, you're not there to celebrate the person's ceremnony, just to eat the free food and drink at the reception? Afterall, the reception is just the party at the end to celebrate the ACTUAL event that just took place, to which you have just stated you never attend!
Gee, you're a valued guest i bet!

sadly, you think that attending these events (of your friends) which you dont really attend, but just show up for the party afterwards, is all about the price of the gift you bring?
oh my..... how sad.

Simply because it is so beautiful - peaceful - I pop into the Buddhist Nan Tien Temple quite often.
I have no religion - I have always been welcomed.
You don't have to be of the religion to enjoy the home of the religion.
You don't even have to be a Buddhist to marry there.
And I always enjoyed Midnight Mass (Catholic) on Christmas Eve with my next door neighbour.
What's the problem?????????????????????????????????????????????????????/

YES... food or music are not infulunced by a person religion... but RELIGION is part of a person's culture!
Each person's culture may differ greatly to another person of the same faith.... or race..... or beliefs! One culture is individual. A bit like fingerprints!

I dont have a problem with other religions or cultures or races or our immigrants.
But some here do...... apparently, a lot here do!
Which, quite frankly, I find a tad disturbing.
