What a wonderful idea.  Build a frog pond.  Let the children see Nature close at hand.

Bull frogs croaking most of the night long. Their charming "love songs" resonating around the colorbond fenced yard.  Echoing and echoing.

How long will this "season" last?  Will the little tadpoles join the chorus in coming months?

I hope the herons venture into that yard.  That would be Nature close at hand, too.

I am so very tired this morning.Smiley Sad

Are you going to build a frog pond? I've tried a couple of times but all I get are mozzies.

I have a friend who built an ecosystem....she is a greenie 😄

She had the most amazing pond, everything balanced so the number of mozzie larvae was just enough to feed the fish and froggies.

I'd love to have a pond like that, but OP I sympathise, cos those big frogs can make a huge, annoying, monotonous noise....and once you notice them, you can't stop hearing them.

oh, I just read the op again, in my "frog happiness", i read it wrongly. We have frogs but they are in the ground - some kind of burrowing frog, never ever see them. I don't mind the sound of frogs.

Hi Boris, No I won't be building a frog pond.  The noise from that neighbour's pond is excruciating in an otherwise peaceful night.

My tranquil fish ponds are calming.  Except when that heron visited for his breakfast and dinner.  I have had to net them (the ponds, that is). Of course, the fish eat any mosquito larvae.

The saying "build it and they will come" hasn't happened for you?  I don't know where the neighbour's got their initial frogs/tadpoles perhaps a pet shop may be able to help.  Remember the times, when we could collect "taddies" from the local creek?  Not allowed now, apparently.

Apparently, a drop of kero on the water surface stops mozzies,  but it could be harmful to the wildlife that you want to eventually inhabit the area.

Smiley HappyBut please, be aware that the noise is painful when trying to sleep.

After a very good rain here the sound is deafening but the sound is usually from cane toads calling.... it is like a constant drone that you can't block out even with a pillow over your head... I feel you pain... it should just be seasonal and hopefully stop very soon.

The thing that drives me nuts when I'm trying to sleep is the zzzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZzz sound of a mozzie. I beat myself up trying to squish the mozzie.
