Yes, and if one does - as my daughter found out.
It is an at fault claim as far as Insurance goes.
I,ve hit two roos in cars over the years. One destroyed the bonnet and windscreen and the other took the sump off the engine of a nine month old Mazda. The insurance company ( Alliance ) wrote it off and gave us a new car
I run sheep in rough terrain and have had a huge angry buck Kangeroo who was "whooing the ladies", charge right up to the fence I was walking along in a very aggressive, threatening way. ( only a few metres away and very scary )
I had to politely explain to him that while the girls where beautiful they where not my type.....

That would have been frightening Punch. We have been lucky enough to never hit one.
I have witnessed a car coming towards me hitting one, it was quite upsetting and they just drove on. I called the wildlife rescue team.
Poor Kangaroos and cars don't go well together.
DC is where my OH came from,(they used to live near the bush and railway line).
I've had a few near misses but my OH has hit a couple around 30 years ago,(that's why there was a tire lever in
the boot as there was no rescue then, you just put it out of it's misery).
