hi, It finally happened, the car that always starts and runs just up and quit. It's on the road and will probibly be towed. I called my dad and got pretty much chewed out for not fixing it or having it serviced before this happened. Dad says it's the timming belt, another guy looked and said head gasket. So I'm putting it to a vote here to see if the car is even worth fixing. or should it go to scrap.
I had it for maybe two years, always did leak oil, but I kept adding oil. I put a new altenater on it last winter. As of now, it needs the oil leak fixed, probibly a pan gasket reseal, the steering fixed, It kinks up on me when i try to turn, the windshild is cracked needs replaced. Personaly I think it would cost less in the long run to upgrade to another car, your thoughts?
I'm going now to try to move it to a better place, will check in later tonight,

ok, i decided to replace rather than repair. borrowed enough to replace the car and do the title work and get tags, i'll have to buy them every year for this one, much newer and does not qualify for historical tags.
i'm going to call up the salvage yards tomorrow and see if i can get someone to come take the nova away. they might put a timing belt in and sell it as a running car. i'm gonna miss the car, its been good to me, but its got to go. it could take me over a week to clean up the dirt and mud in the little truck i bought. what a mess. but this one will get clean one way or another. Have to do a oil change, replace the air filter, find a cap for it, and i'm good to go.

thanks, i really like this one but wish it got the gas millage i was getting with the nova.
question, will a truck cap from a 1999 chevy s10, fit a 2004 Ford Ranger?
He says it will even though he gave the measurments as 62" wide and 76" long.. Mine measures at 59.5" wide and 74.5" long He is gonna get back with me on the inside measurments. I want to be sure it will fit before making that long trip. I really hope it does, exactly the one i'm looking for. Aluminum high top with opening doors on the sides.

Shouldn't be a problem - most have an adjustable fitting in the back!
