If you have one of those wet vacum cleaners you can flood the area with water and then suck it back out with the blood. Had a large pool on a white carpet once and it worked a treat

Preen for carpets. I don't have carpet, only polished floorboards, but I use Preen for Carpets on my sofa. It gets EVERYTHING out. Red wine, spilled tomato sauce, kitty drool .....

buy some blood at the butcher and spread it all over so you get the same colour everywhere.
