I agree, Punch. Something needs to be done.

If thats the only paper running with the story its not very credible. If it really happened there would be many references available for it online.
A quick search shows the first bikies charged under the association laws was in November 2013. Did that story happen somewhere else?

Obviously the man referred to was not a bikie, if you are suggesting that the Guardian is somehow above the laws covering the media in this country then you would be incorrect, the Guardian has been around for many many years and is very careful about what it prints, as it has to be. If it was in the habit of publishing fake stories then be assured that it would have been shut down a long time ago.
A "quick search" means nothing.
As for "something has to be done", I agree - all I am saying is that these laws have far reaching consequences, as we watch our civil rights walk out the door we should take the time to consider this.

Ok, i found it. I had assumed the story related to the new laws in Queensland hence my questions re did it happen somehwere else?

So he was charged and then it was overturned because he only consorted with 1 fellow criminal not 2. Hardly an innocent party when you look at his criminal history for such a young boy.

punch, I am in full agreement with you that something has to be done re: organised crime, drug trade etc - it's just (in my opinion) a very slippery slope when laws are implemented that take away our civil rights. Surely it's possible to legislate in such away that focuses on the big end of town, whether that is the small percentage of bikies that are involved in the lucrative drug trade or the big business criminals.
