A Newcastle (NSW) mother has been charged with murder after her six-week-old baby girl was found dead.
The woman will face Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.
Neighbours told local media the mother was led from the scene in handcuffs
The family, believed to be from West Africa, has rented the home for several months.
Neighbours said they were shocked by the news but said the family were friendly.

They always hit and run. Never return to defend and give their point of view.

Oh so very sad and heartbreaking may bub rest in peace I don't think any of us can speculate until more information comes out and even then we need to be careful. Feeling for all involved in this very tragic situation.

My first reaction was 'thats terrible'...

At first I thought it might be drug related.
understandably; in many cases that
is the reason and usually the first thing
that comes to mind is "why???"

So please explain what 'environment' and 'customs' have to do with potential post natal deperession and a car accident?
Quite a lot, I would imagine.
A lot, in fact I would hazard a guess that most West African ppl in Australia are refugees from the conflicts in Africa which have been resettled in Australia.
I can only imagine the suffering they've gone through, being driven from their homes, possibly seperated from their families, seeing loved ones killed, herded together in refugee camps. Waiting for many years to be resettled. Coming to a country where people, customs, traditions, lifestyle are so different from your own you may as well be living on a different planet amongs aliens. Learning a new language. Maybe living off welfare and charity. Social workers on your doorstep constantly prying into your affairs. So it might have seemed
Who wouldn't go through bouts of depression? Especially after having a baby. We don't know the young woman's circumstances and family arrangements so it's hard to say what tipped her over.
So authorites are calling it post-natal depression. Mental illness is always a good one-size-fits-all diagnosis.
I don't know any more about the lady in the car "accident". It could have been a similar experience for her.

Its just that I cant stand the faux concern that some adopt, as if they are hiding their bigotry and ignorance.
I like to call it out..into the light.
Are you referring to me?

Personally, I can't stand the faux righteousness that some adopt, as if they were hiding their bigotry and ignorance.
I'd like to call that out..into the light.

Perhaps you'd like to elaborate on whe "the ignorant ones" are.
