I think because he was actually named in the court papers, so it kind of gave the media a reason to publish.

It is or has been known about for ages, but I doubt anyone was game enough to publish, especially since the

Royals are now more likely than ever to use lawyers.

Like you, I also look for the reason, ulterior motive.
