Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.
The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.
Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.
Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.
"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."
The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.
Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

I can't believe that anyone would put so much credence in an American blogging criminal profiler.
She also defends George Zimmerman and debunked the death of Cleopatra LOL
Are her qualifications self appointed? Was she involved in the case? I really can't be bothered to read any more of her blog to find out.
She is also making money out of her profiling, Iza and with all of her Truth books.

Pat Brown holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University
As far as I can see, her other experience is in an agency she owns and in writing about crimes. I can barely read what she writes without feeling overwhelmed, I wonder if she is too involved in that side of "life" to see anything innocent in what other (probably innocent) people do?

So why do you think they have been so relentless over 6 1/2 years in their quest to keep the case open and search for new leads?
because they 'want' her to be alive ......
So they are rational enought to orchestrate and maintain an ongoing conspiracy amongst all their friends to hide the fact that they are repsonsible for their daughter's death, yet at the same time are so screwed up that they will jeopardise that same conspiracy simply because they don't want what they know they did to be true?

she also has a radio show and is starting a school to teach others how to profile.

TGSE , I am not saying that they killed their child.
If a top sniffer dog had smelt dealth on my missing childs toy,on the floor wherever...I would unfortunately have to consider it quite likely that she died in that room .
I don't know that I'd be getting a Lawyer to find 1 case where other dogs had a negative 'positive' to prove sniffer dogs unreliable as evidence ?
I know I'm not in their position.I am however 1 person in the many in this world who has been a recipient of their campaigns and calls for help.It is only in that capacity that I am commenting ... 'as a recipient/receiver of the media' .
Their theory has been fed to everyone ...it seems to the expense of information/facts from other sources
I don't believe all their claims are 'fact' and what has been presented to many in the media it seems .
...that the PJ's didn't do a good job.It takes a bit of seaching outside MSM to see that though.

The McCann's seem to feel people and their theories defame (or are a threat ?) them though and they seek to stop them...in that I think ,at least to me...they are defaming themselves.

Somehow I doubt that dead body only moments after death smells any differently than a live person. I do not remember, but I am quite positive that the child was seen that afternoon. The dogs that are trained to "smell death" are called "cadaver dogs", they are trained to sniff out decomposing bodies. Here is all about different working dogs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_dog

Supa Nova, Some are trained to ignore decomposing odours. This article is about Eddie and Keela .
Keela hit the headlines two years ago because she was earning more than her force's Chief Constable.
The English sniffer dogs that are helping in the hunt for Madeleine
Last updated at 12:58 10 August 2007
A dog who was 'earning' more money than her force's Chief Constable has been brought in to help Portuguese police in their hunt for missing Madeleine McCann.
Specially-trained Keela was flown to Praia da Luz in the Algarve last week because she can detect human blood - even after items have been cleaned or washed many times.
Keela, and another English springer spaniel called Eddie, have now both been enlisted in the hunt for the missing four-year-old.
Keela hit the headlines two years ago because she was earning more than her force's Chief Constable.
The South Yorkshire Police dog has already helped forces across the country, including working on the high-profile stabbing of pregnant mother Abigail Witchalls in Surrey, and was being hired out for £530 per day, plus expenses.
Back then she would have been earning almost £200,000 - around £70,000 more than her force's Chief Constable - if she worked every day of the year.
She has been trained to ignore decomposing body materials other than human blood.
I hope the UK Government can help this family too

Ben Needham's grandfather calls for Government help
Last updated Wed 16 Oct 2013
An MP is backing calls for the case of missing Ben Needham to get the same support as that given to the family of Madeleine McCann.
Labour's Angela Smith says she will ask the Government to help the Sheffield family in the same way that they have backed Kate and Gerry McCann , whose daughter went missing in Portugal six years ago.
Ben's grandfather has told Calendar that they've been "forgotten," and ignored by successive Governments after the toddler went missing in 1991 on Kos.
This week a TV reconstruction of Madeleine's disappearance was shown, following a two-year, five million pound investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Mark Witty reports
