Investigators are hoping that new information will help solve the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann.
The then- three-year-old British girl disappeared six years ago while vacationing with her family in Portugal.
Scotland Yard is planning to release a computerized sketch of a possible person of interest in the case.
Former prosecutor Wendy Murphy joined America’s News Headquarters to discuss the development.
"I’m not buying it. I think this is more PR than anything," Murphy said. "I think this is all related to a civil suit now underway in Portugal."
The McCanns sued the former police chief for defamation because he wrote a tell-all book.
Alisyn pointed out that the McCanns claim the Portuguese police never took the case seriously

My across the road neighbour would walk to school 1 k away to collect her children and leave baby asleep in the house alone. She would tell me and give me keys. I would walk across the street every 5 mins and listen outside his window, then sit on my patio watching the house.. I had my own baby asleep as well.

Dr Katherina Gaspar
Dr Arul Savio Gaspar (husband of the above)
Witness Statements
What Dr Katherina Gaspar read into gestures by David Payne while talking to Gerry ( her take on it)
Dr Arul Gaspar (her husband) - doesn't read the same thing into it.
Dr Arul Gaspar - parts of his statement from link
I remember that when I saw this gesture I immediately thought it to be in very bad taste, independently of the context of the conversation they were having.
We ( him and his wife) never commented on this gesture during the rest of the holiday and I thought no more about it.
I can say that Dave was a pleasant person. I do not remember him having any unusual characteristics.
During the holidays Dave never behaved in an inappropriate manner with Madeleine or with any of the other children. Dave was popular with the children and I took this to be because he was a close friend to the family.
I never distrusted Dave.
After the holidays there was one occasion when we were with Kate and Gerry and Fiona and Dave were also present.
That was in a restaurant in Leicester in 2005.
I do not remember Dave having behaved inappropriately on this occasion. We have not spoken to Dave or Fiona since December 2005, only due to their being friends of Kate and Gerry, not for any other reason.
It was during the days following the news of the abduction that we discovered that Fiona and David Payne were also with them in Portugal.
It was at this moment that Katherina showed concern at the gesture made by Dave in Majorca in 2005. Katherina remembered that when Dave made the gesture he was referring to Madeleine.
I only remember that Katherina saw the gesture at the time, I had forgotten the episode, it was never the subject of conversation.
At the time I did not feel the gesture was referring to Madeleine.

This story and others here make my blood run cold. I hope that these practices are not carried out today, but I fear they are.
If people knew what can go wrong (nothing to do with abduction) they would never do it.

and I realise behaviour after the fact is personal. I dont know, accidents can happen (especially when young children are left alone) and they wouldnt be the first parents to cover up an accidental death.
On TV, or in real life some half witted junkie/alcoholic, not inteligent doctor. If there was an accident they would have called ambulance and tried to save her..

We know quite well what can happen....we are not stupid. The same things can happen when you are in the next room. Children die and get abducted while parents are in the house. Fact.
The neice of a friend went out with a man who's daughter was taken from her bedroom during the night, she was later found dead. Her mother and sister were sleeping.
I also did as azure did with my next door neighbour. We took it in turns picking up the older child from school if the babies were sleeping. Our doors virtually faced each other and we simply kept walking between the 2 houses. In fact those two babies were closer in distance than were my grandies slept from me in my second home.

Being a Dr doesn't make a human being a perfect parent nor a Saint who would do no wrong .Nor does it mean that their children are any more special, safer and free from any and all possible harm and the effects of that harm that any child may come to.
Though there are things which would be expected of Drs .Have you read Mrs Fenn's Statement about which nights and the length of time she heard a child crying (way longer than 30min checks would indicate ) and also as Kate mentions in her book Maddie mentioning the morning of the 3rd why didn't they come when she and her brother cried the night before ...another night they cried .If they did something wrong ...even if it was not checking regularly which resulted in something happening (accident/abduction)they may for the sake of their and their friends Dr status not want that known.
Did they take note of the statement from the wife of Gerry's Dr friend back home
and/or check that out later ?
If what the wife said happened as per her statement ..why would Gerry not think of his child being abused ?

I have never suggested that anyone is stupid. There in very little education available for parenting.
My suggestion is that most people do not know what can go wrong. Fact. They only know what they know.

THE critical new evidence at the centre of Scotland Yard’s search for Madeleine McCann was kept secret for five years after it was presented to her parents by ex-MI5 investigators.
The evidence was in fact taken from an intelligence report produced for Gerry and Kate McCann by a firm of former spies in 2008.
It contained crucial E-Fits of a man seen carrying a child on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance, which have only this month become public after he was identified as the prime suspect by Scotland Yard.
A team of hand-picked former MI5 agents had been hired by the McCanns to chase a much-needed breakthrough in the search for their missing daughter Madeleine.
