Surprising foods that cause you acne
Skin saboteur: milk
Yep, the white stuff can aggravate acne, and not only that; it can trigger it too. A study by Harvard School of Public Health found that there is a direct link between regularly consuming milk and suffering acne. And people who drank skim milk had the worst breakouts. Apparently the more processed the milk, the higher the levels of hormones it contains, which trigger acne. “It’s still important to make sure you have three serves of low fat dairy per day for strong bones. If you really feel as though milk triggers your acne, make sure you see a dietitian to ensure you're receiving enough calcium from non-dairy sources,” recommends Jaime Rose Fronzek, accredited practising dietitian and nutritionist.
Skin saboteur: sugar
Oh how we love you sugar, sweet delicious sugar. But sadly you don’t love us back – yes, sugar can cause your skin some serious grief. “Refined sugars cause a spike in blood sugar levels, which cause the body to respond with a surge of insulin. Insulin can accelerate cell growth in the pores and stimulate hormones called androgens that produce oil, causing acne,” says Jaime. Don’t despair, you don’t have to give up the sweet stuff permanently. Instead, switch it up. “Choose lower glycaemic index (GI) sources of natural sugar like organic dried fruits (like apricots and apples) or bake with Stevia for a natural sweet taste,” says Jaime.
Skin saboteur: processed foods
Do you often grab a Turkish bread sambo on your lunchbreak? Or hit up a muffin to get you through the afternoon? This move could be messing with your skin. “Processed foods work similarly to refined sugars in that because they’ve been processed, they’re quickly absorbed in our blood stream and cause a spike in blood sugar levels,” explains Jaime. Replace these foods with – you guessed it – low GI versions like wholegrain bread, crackers, oats, quinoa and brown rice versions to clear your skin.
Skin saboteur: chocolate
Chocolate works to trigger acne in the same way that sugar does but, if you’re anything like us, it’s SO not something were ever going to give up – even if it means we'd clear our skin. And the good news is, you can still eat the good stuff, it just needs a tweak. “Dark chocolate (70 percent or more) is lower in sugar than milk chocolate and is richer in antioxidants, thought to help reduce inflammation and acne,” says Jaime. Hate the taste of dark chocolate? There are some great sugar-free options on the market that use Stevia instead of sugar. Hooray!

nah...there is not enough scientific evidence to prove that diet and acne are related.

Hi Icy
Yes I do think it is REAL news, unless it was in the Daily Telegraph

I was having a go at the Daily telegraph as I don't read it much but some think it is
full of garbage, lol. , though I dont.
Re those foods I can't help thinking that they could contribute to acne, though I was surprised about milk.
At any rate none of them with the exception of milk are considered healthy in general. are they.
