Iraq has essentially just began another civil war, and it's totally unclear how long it's going to last or how it's going to end. And no one's sure what to do about it.....
Any conflict or prelonged war/fighting in Iraq threatens oil supply to the USA....of course!
.....it's all about oil supply.....AGAIN!

Tony Abbott is supporting.
Looks like drones will be used to bomb Iraq
Solved! Go to Solution.

interesting ref http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-opinion/australia-still-at-americas-beck-and-call-2...
Why wasn't the Iraqi ambassador at Abbott's side, literally in a formal press conference or figuratively in a joint statement?.....
Australia is delivering arms in a region where the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), one of 19 organisations that Canberra lists globally as terrorists, is active, Abbott might have explained what precautions will be taken, if any, to ensure we do not end up arming the PKK.....
You've seen mission creep before? We're already seeing it in this effort โ last week, we were the nice guys dropping food and water; this week, we're not so nice because we're dropping weapons.
What next, Tony?...........

Oh! You caught me just before I reached for my plastic watering can.......
Strange way to bathe, but ok.
and as a point of fact the US is desperate to 'get' good quality oil.....
We're not desperate for anything. Gas here in New York has some of the highest prices in the country, I paid $3.79 a gallon yesterday...double it and I still wouldn't flinch.
the charts above show less being imported but that is because they cannot get anough.
Wrong again and also another made up outright lie.
The increase left United States production at 7.5 million barrels a day, with both November and December production estimated to have been over eight million barrels a day. The United States is estimated to have used 8.5 percent less oil in 2013 than it did in 2007,
Their home sought shale oil is FAST running out.
Our oil is going to last just as long as yours.
Probably in excess of 50 years before oil production drops below half what is currently. Counting natural gas in total hydrocarbons, probably 90 to 140 years before total hydrocarbon use drops to below half what it is currently
That doesn't even take into account renewable energy and how it lowers the need for fossil fuels. Over the last 10 years I'm seeing a huge increase in Geothermal, wind and solar power being used. And the technology keeps improving.
Just approved right where I live.....
The Long Island โ New York City Offshore Wind Project is a bold initiative to help New York reach its clean and renewable energy goals. The proposed project would be located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 13 nautical miles off the Rockaway Peninsula. It would likely be designed for 350 megawatts (MW) of generation, with the ability to expand it to 700 MW, giving it the potential to be the largest offshore wind project in the country. (more...)
Solar is already cheaper than nuclear....
And very close to being cheaper than coal....

It has already been repeated many times; the only way North American consumers are going to be protected from rising fossil fuel prices is to fully develop every possible domestic oil resource. Solar, wind and other alternative energy sources are important, but we will be dependent of fossil fuels for the foreseeable future.
We've been researching green energy longer than I've been alive. It was discussed when I was in grade school. Better late than never!
It's right around the corner....THEN how will "they" fund their terror? It's them that should be worried, WE aren't desperate at all!
Renewable electricity represented nearly 13% of total installed capacity and more than 12% of total electric generation in the United States in 2011. <<<<more since then....I can't be bothered looking....for you.
Until Americans get to the point that they demand of their politicians that the nationโs domestic fossil fuel resources be fully developed and utilized, the nation will be at the mercy of the Worldโs oil speculators.
You talk like you're not included in that statement. And happy about that.
I like your Daffy duck gaff ...fitting.
And I believe Australia should be represented in yellow in that gragh (steg), but isn't for some reason?

Thanks for that info.
I am appalled every time I read the left wing hate for our alliance with the USA. Even with a democrat occupying the white house the scorn is poured.
Where is the gratitude for all the thousands of young men and women in the US forces who died whilst out in the real world doing a job many on here can't even contemplate, with the aid of our young men and women of the forces?
To even try to simplify what's going on and perpetrated by isil, to use the "oil" to back up their nefarious opposition to the aid asked for by hundreds of thousand of people facing mass murder? well I'm sickened.
I am grateful for your posts and it's about time the vicious leftist hate that is posted on here by a few is called out.

You and others on here have brought up the issue of thousands of young men and women in the forces serving and dying for their country.....so ......I am grateful for their deaths. I guess. But I would not send them off to be killed nor to fight where there is no threat to their own country to then cause instability in areas where there was none in the first instance OR to make the instability situation worse. Most of these youth had a choice of remain unemployed and no money or join the defence force, get some training and pay and 'travel'......just a small catch ....have to get into the line of fire serving a govt that is really about keeping the supply of fossil fuel open because their own govt has an adenda to keep their own fossil fuel for emergencies.....oh yes and the other catch is these youth may well get killed doing their govts bidding.
I love Americans....just don't agree with what their govt is all about.
I perfectly understand. I can be grateful but I do NOT have to agree and I don't agree with this BS.

Grateful for their deaths????? says it all about you and your mind set.
Nothing you say from now on can ever mitigate what you spout out every day.
There has been people like you who turn up but from historic observation the right to post this type of thing is seen through and dealt with.

This supporting of bombing Iraq issue, along with keeping oil reserves open is probably about same and also protection of the GAS reserves in Qatar that supply Europe.....probably ....
Gas is the 'new' oil afterall
