I loved the movie.
We meant to go and see it again while it was still running but never got around to it.

It's interesting Leo Di Caprio plays a similar character in Wolf of Wall Street. The look suits him!

I loved it, too.

That's interesting isn't it because from the little I have seen of Wolf of Wall Street it reminded me a lot of Gatsby. Same crazy style.

Yes a very similar movie. Lots of decadence, sex, full frontal nudity and foul language. Just more cohesiveness.
Wouldn't surprise me if Leo liked himself in that character so much he got someone to produce another movie in the same vein.

I loved the movie as well and thought it compared favourably with the earlier one with Robert Redford.Different depictions of Gatsby but both tormented men. F Scott Fitzgerald's novels are all full of sex and decadence and thwarted love, etc etc, I don't usually like Baz Luhrman's movies much but think he did a great job with this one, and I'm a great fan of Leonardo. .

Just a warning Deb, re the Wolf of Wall Street, it's very graphic and explicit. And long. about 3 hours. But good.
"Australia" was for me also the only Baz Luhrman movie I liked.
I can't stand his computer generated backdrops and landscapes.
