Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

I don't like the dogs. I don't like printed dogs full stop. Nor cats. Cartoon ones are cute but that's pushing the limit.

I found some cool music fabric at spotlight but not quite right. Too sophisticated for miss 12 iykwim

My thought was a small child is going to love those puppies on their quilt:-)

The mum to be loves dogs...and cats. I hate cartoon animals.....

I think my issue is that the dogs are printed on the fabric? I might have been better to applique some.

Sounds interesting...the project. I do think 1 ruler is enough unless you get hooked :):-

I have the "back" of the dog up top, was planning to hand stitch it on the under side of the quilt. I also have some small dog squares I was intending to use as 3d appliques on the front, not sure now.

Re: Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

I am going to finish it for her, I have added some more little appliques,( a green/yellow 1" border, a 3" blue border and I think it will be ok) and realised that the real issue is, I should never have used the panel pieces and I should have used a pattern.

However, quilting will help to soften it? I hope.

I went to the spotty sale and came home with quilting thread. 😐

Although, I did find a book with a lovely quilt in it, made from 30 x 10" squares. I might just buy a layer cake though, instead of yardage. So, that means I can buy the book today at 30% off....or just write the pattern myself? hmm....

Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt now Azure 🙂

Had a little giggle re your comment about sewing teacher...my dear departed mum was a qualified dressmaking teacher after completing her college training in the UK . I can still clearly remember all the beautiful sample pieces she had to make and submit during that time but unfortunately when she passed away I was unable to find her many folders that contained this work.

I have started stitching on some little doggy prints by hand.
