Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

Lovely pnp and a great gift idea, especially in Christmas fabric.

but

now I feel very guilty. I must get off here and do some sewing while Zozo is asleep. i still haven't finished the latest baby quilt and baby is now nearly 4 weeks old:_|

Mind you I have done a tad of paving, painted the family room and almost finished installing a small wooden deck in the backyard!

well, I must admit, it was easier than painting....paving etc.
The fabrics are Christmas colours but not really Christmas fabrics....so could be used all year round. 🙂
I know teachers get all manner of things and probably too many....so decided to be original.

Lovely coasters Karen and a great gift idea.

I've just come back from the shops with a gorgeous Christmas wall hanging to make for the DIL.

I can't put up my latest creation, it would give the game away to someone.;-)

Suggestions needed please on a good quilting book for me from daughter #2 for Christmas. 🙂 we have nearly finished all the Christmas shopping! yay!

As you know I am a dressmaker by trade but have never tried anything to do with quilting, but next year I intend to learn....a good basic 'how to' book would be good. Thanks ladies 🙂

Hmm...I am not sure that a book is a good way to learn......
Someone else may have a suggestion...but mine is a subscription to a magazine...or a class booking.
Basic quilting tools? A cutting mat, ergonomic rotary cutter? Rulers?
Most of what you need to know can be found online....
Depends on where your interest will lie? Piecing, applique.......?
Google some quilting books? and see if something takes your eye :-x
A book I have is QUILTER'S COLOUR MIXING BIBLE.

Hi twinkle, yes they do......but the best advice I got when I started was from karen, rosie and the other quilties!:-x

Bless you all, you started an obsession!

Oh one thing that a teacher said to me in class though....she could tell I was used to sewing cloths because I tended to taper off from the 1/4 in sean towards the end. Apparently people who are used to using an overlocker tend to do it.

She got me sewing with a woodeb satay stick in mt right hand, to hold the fabric in line with the 1/2" foot and the end of the seam.

Worked a treat!

oops sorry about the typos:
cloths=clothes
seam=seam
"wooden satay stick in my right hand"

Gee you wouldn't know I used to be a legal secretary...the accurate typing has long gone LOL
