Old Chinwag Craft Board Block Swap 2007

Sometime in early 2007, the Craft Board quilters got together and organised a Block Swap. We had to design and prepare enough blocks to make a quilt for ourselves, provide the first block completed and send the package on to the other crafty people in the swap.
We each completed a block in everyone's set.
My quilt was for my grandsons' bedroom in my home. I set a theme of teddy bears and boy's toys.
Most of these quilts have been finished for some time....... but.... I could not make a decision on how to do mine until recently.
I learned so much in that year and can't thank everyone who was involved enough! My applique skills are much improved.
So, thank you ♥

I have also sewn the labels of the blockmakers onto the back of the quilt, behind the relevant blocks.
I made mine into a quillow, a quilt that folds into a pillow, so one of the blocks is on the back of the quilt and when folded into it, becomes a pillow.
My 3 yo grandaughter looked at it and said "Gran, that is brilliant" and that is a good recommendation, so I have to thank everyone who was involved.

I know you asked about a book and I'll think about that but an absolute must if machine patchworking is a 1/4" foot for the machine.

I have never been to lessons as such, learnt all by reading books, magazines, from other people and these days there is so much onfo on the net. It really does help though to talk and watch how other people do things, invaluable.

Yes 1/4" foot, no idea why I put 1/2"

I have ended up buying two though...I found it hard with the first one (I have a Janome), it was metal with a guide so I bought an alternative one, clear plastic, with the markings on it.

I find it much easier.

I have been very slack, lazy and all that goes with it. Having no sewing background made it that bit harder but I almost sew in a straight lie now:-D
I've got 4 things on the go but just can't get into it.
Always think about it but the motivation is kaput.
I found the same thing a keeli, clear foot is so much easier. I have a brother but it didn't have an adjustable foot (made the actual quilting part a tad impossible) so I swapped for mums jamone which had the clear foot. Wow the ease.
If someone could see it in their heart to give me a swift kick up the bum to motivate me, I'd really appreciate it

I will have to check but I think I have a clear 1/4" foot in my box 🙂 I know I have 2 clear ones and one is a 1/2" that I use......plus my teflon foot that I couldn't sew without.

I love my 1/4" foot, it is metal but has the little black guide on the side........so I am not understanding you girls? about the clear foot.
Chuk, the thing to do to get motivation...is to do a little project.....like my coasters. I have taken orders for them now.....as everyone seems to like them.
This year I am making small things for family members as I am tired of the usual shopping/stressing for items no one needs or wants. :8}

Hello MissLinda, how are you and Mr L? Have you any projects on the go.

I have the metal 1/4" with the black thingy? I love it. I do have a clear foot that sounds similar to what you are talking about Keelia but my eyes, they don't like it, to much strain.

Talking about Hexagons, go check out Kiwiquilts (google is your friend) they have some very nice free projects. You don't have to buy their nesting hexagons, if you are clever you can make them out of cardboard or plastic yourself.
My friend was over yesterday to show me the bag she made from the pattern they have on their site, very nice. I have almost convinced myself to make their Christmas swag.

I love the Christmas swag Indigo! The hexagon bag is lovely too.

My real favourite though is the Christmas down under quilt...what a magnificent gift to send to family/friends over seas!

Hi Miss L...long time no post!
