The last one - the one armed surfer,  is American Bethany Hamilton. 

She was surfing when she was 13 and had her arm bitten off by a shark.

She is now a professional surfer.   Now that's guts and determination!

I only just got back to this thread. Peter was amazed to see those beautiful horses emerge from the mess of several canvases.
