Is anyone here affected by the Optus hack?
We are not, but my daughter received a communication from them to say her bank details & passport details & also licence details I think, had been stolen.
The annoying thing is she is not with Optus. She has not been with Optus for almost 6 years. Why, then, do they still have all her records on file? Very annoying.

Just recently I almost switched to Optus. I asked in the Blokes thread about providers in September and I really was seconds away from switching to them, but then I thought I would wait another month or two in case there is a problem because I needed to do a few things online...

To be quite honest, I am really surprised they don't have to provide any form of compensation to customers. I would be really annoyed if this had happened to me.

Yes those key stroke loggers are probably the worst things around and ( unfortunately )...
"It's possible for advanced keyloggers to: Log clipboard text, recording information that you cut and paste from other documents."
For the most part we can stay safe by not clicking on ANY links in emails.
Google Chrome ( and most likely other browsers ) can protect us from visiting toxic web sites.
As far as Optus and our government regulations are concerned...
All data gathered to prove our ID should be disposed of or encrypted after the process.
We can always go through the ID process later again if need be.

Absolutely! There should be a law enforcing this...

Telstra has been hacked now. 30,000 past and present employees dating back to 2017, their info has been posted by a hacker on the same board that the Optus info was posted on.

Telstra was not hacked. A third party site that was used for an employee reward scheme was hacked. The third party had telstra employee info stored as part of the program, and it was hacked.
No telstra customer info was at risk, only employee info as part of the reward program.

Anyway, I also hate how so many companies force you to agree to automatic payments when you use PayPal. I have to agree and then cancel automatic payments in PayPal every time...
