This is a good article about the case ... 

It's one of those situations where no-one's a winner ... he had overcome so much, and so had she ... and their lives appear to have ended ... at the same time ... for no point.  

Just said on the news that they believe he fired three shots into the bathroom door (where she was) in order to get to her. And his defence is he thought it was a breakin?

Her family seem to have great strength.

I thought that people aren't really discussing it because it's all a bit of a shock.  It is one of those life stories that just doesn't make any sense.

My first words when I heard this were along the line of I wonder if he has ever been tested for steroid use.

The reports say steroids were found in his home.

He was all over the news during the Olympic games. How could you not have heard of him?

I thought the same ......my interest in sport is little but as he was all over the news it was hard to avoid

Her name is Reeva Steenkamp. 

She is a woman. not a bombshell.

I haven't commented because any comment would be about news reporters that objectify her instead of using her name.

Has anyone read the notes of speech Reeva was due to give on the day she was killed?

I have heard that there were screams heard prior to the gunshots being fired, and something about a baseball bat with blood on it?

Seems very strange, the story doesn't fit with what he alleges happened.

I'm not into sport either, but I remember him being all over the news/newspapers during the time of the Olympics.

A more up to date story.

I don't get it.  You're in bed with your girlfriend ... you hear noises coming from the toilet ...   I dunno, but if I hear noises in the toilet, I presume it's my son.  I don't know what your average burglar would be doing in the loo???  So, after I hear the noises while I am in bed, I put my arm out to see if my girlfriend is next to me ... or would it be her in the bog?    Now I get that he might be a bit paranoid in South Africa, but he lived in a gated community with high security, high walls, presumably good locks on doors and windows ... why on earth would he be THAT scared???  

He can't be that much of a nervous Nellie ... look at what he's overcome in his life and how determined he was to run at the Olympics ...

No, I think there's something fishy about all of this.

I was bought up in South Africa and even all those years ago on your average housing estate all the doors and windows where locked, barred and alarmed.

When my parents left South Africa my brother who has just got married and started a company stayed behind, 5 years after leaving I went back to visit him and could not believe the security he had, he lived in a gate community where there were armed guards, CCTV everywhere, barbed wire on all the external walls and fences, all the houses had bugler bars and alarms and between the ground floor and the top floor there was a security gate which was locked and alarmed it was like living in Fort Knox and of course there where the guns.  Not surprising my brother said he felt very safe but was a bit uncomfortable and could not answere me when I asked him what he would do if the house caught fire as they would all be trapped.

The whole Pistporius story sounds weird, so he hears a noise in the night puts on his false legs grab his gun get up walk to the bathroom door and shoots and doesn't even check the bed to see if his girlfriend is there or not.? The first thing I do when I hear a noise in the night is nudge my OH and ask him if he heard anything if he wakes up first he does the same to me.

Also the cricket bat he used to bash her head in, he obviously got close enough to this suspect intruder, but didn't recognize it was his GF. She ran to the bathroom to get away from him, and he shot her, I think it was reported 4 times whilst she cowered from him in the bathroom.
