Who do you think will win this year and do you agree?

Best Film: American Hustle (don't agree)

Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity (agree)

Best Actor: Leonardo Dicaprio (don't agree)

Best Actress: Cate Blanchett  (don't agree)

Best Supporting Actress:  Jennifer Lawrence (DON'T AGREE)

Best Supporting Actor:  Jared Leto  (agree)

I hope Mathew Maconaughy (sp), wins, I think he deserves it. He is a much stronger actor than Leo Dicaprio.

Hes been overlooked so many times for films that i thought were very Oscar deserving.

I'm ambivalent about Leo. I think there was a period there where he was one of the most promising actors on the planet: This Boy's Life (I think that was the title, with De Niro), Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, Romeo and Juliet, another movie where he plays a bisexual poet, then Titanic. After Titanic, I only liked Catch Me If You Can. I haven't liked any movies he has done since except for Shutter Island (though I thought his performance was weak).

And I would like to see Revolutionary Road but other than that, I haven't been impressed. I think he WAS an icon, and deserved an Oscar for any of his pre-Titanic films, but I just don't find him convincing now: he has a weak voice, can be slightly effeminate an and is pudding-faced.

I think some people peak in their teens, others in their 30's or even 50's but I think Leo belongs to the former, sorry.

Have you not seen 'Blood Diamond' or 'The Departed'?

I thought he was brilliant in both of those as well.

Okay, I have to be honest and say I've seen neither as I don't enjoy violence for violence sake and the trailers looked too full on.

Yes, both have their violent moments, but Blood Diamond  is so much more than the violence. It tells of the illegal diamond trade. A heart wrenching story.

regarding your OP. I like Jennifer Lawrence but she is just flavour of the month at the moment. Havent seen American Hustle so cant say whether she deserves an Oscar for it or not
