Our new addition is being born right now!! ♥

The puppies are coming, the puppies are coming!!!!!

We (as a family) decided back in January that this year we would get a puppy!
Miss Samantha is over 2 and the teens are waaay big enough to offer extra help as needed!

This is a BIG deal for me, Ive only ever been a "cat person"..... It's almost like the decision to have another child, very serious to me!!

Anyhoo...... My sons girlfriend has 2 King Charles Cavaliers, and they are having puppies RIGHT NOW!! 🙂
Have spoken to the girls parents and we have known for sometime that we'd be getting one of this litter (the only litter they are having).

I need to do some research on that breed and puppies in general!!!

We will spend time over their house with Miss Samantha over the coming weeks to see which puppy bonds with her best. Will be coming home to us in 6-8 weeks time ♥

Oh... I also have NO ideas for dog names and my teens are not being very helpful!!!!!

Hi Kylie - hope you are all well.

I would use a rolled up piece of newspaper and tap her on the nose when she bites with a stern NO!  You could also try a spray bottle - works with cats Smiley Happy.

Rather unusual for a Cavie to do this but a pup will try it on. As far as Daisy is concerned, she is playing with you and because she thinks it is ok for her to play nip/bite she will keep doing it. She must be told/trained immediately that this is not playing and it is totally unacceptable.

The previous suggestions are good. Next time she does it, have a little rolled up paper, smack her (not too hard) on the nose but very sternly say NO. Then turn your back and don't play with her for a few minutes, ignore her. Then give her a cuddle but every time she nips do the same thing. You can use a water spray bottle in the face which they don't like one bit but works quite well, especially for barking. Always make sure she has plenty of chew toys.

When I first brought my little Corgi home, the first thing he did was nip my ankle. I yelled NO and gave him a smack. He never did it again and Corgis are renowned for ankle biting.

The most important thing is you must be consistant, not just do it here and there. Doesn't matter what kind of training you are doing, you must do the same thing every time and do it as they are doing it, not a few seconds later. Also, make sure that everyone in the household does the same thing. Puppies are as cunning as cut snakes. Let us know how you get on.

I love that photo of her.  As a past cav owner I've always thought they have very expressive faces and

after a while you get to know exactly what they are thinking and for sure what she's thinking there is she would like to take you apart, lol.

How old is she now?

Just wondering how long she is in the laundry for and if it would be possible for someone a neighbour perhaps to just pop in during the day

to say hello?  She's a beautiful little girl and lucky to be surrounded by so much love.

Ohhh just popped back here for an update and saw bright.tons last post....
Daisy is now 14 weeks old. She spends about 6ish hours on Mon, Tues & Wed alone. If anyone is home she gets the run of the yard/house!
She is out of the laundry now and in our back room, which consists of an office and my teen sons bedroom which he has set her bed up in. She can see out the back yard through big double glass doors and into our kitchen/loungeroom through glass panelled French doors so not as closed in.
Most people around us work, and no family close enough to visit, but she seems quite ok.

She is totally cheeky, and the biting has not improved and I have tried many of the strategies offered here, but we are starting Puppy Pre School this weekend so hopefully I will get her straightened out! 😉

She is currently sound asleep on my lap snoring loudly keeping me warm on a cold night..... I wish she'd be a lap dog more often, hopefully as she gets older?!

Daisy is a real little gem. The only time I have bathed Millie was under the hose after she had followed a Poodle into a muddy creek and came out black. I felt really mean about hosing her but we couldn't do it any other way. We always take her to the groomer to get washed and clipped and she breaks her neck to get there, knocks open the door and runs in.  Good luck with the puppy school, it will do you both good lol.

o my goodness, what a little ripper she is kylie, she looks so contented.  !  Lucky all of you.  Terrific she will be going to puppy school,  you will all learn a lot. Neither of my cavs (now passed away) were much for the lap.  They were kind enough to sit next to me on the couch, but liked to spread out, lol.  How is she doing with potty training?     My first boy learnt quite quickly but would still have the occasional accident up to a few

months.

BTW he just LOVED training.  We did puppy school first then when a bit older he did agility classes and group work ,  and we all had so much fun.
