Fish at a Queensland aquarium are not only swimming in the water but in buttery sauces at its cafe, prompting an animal rights group to write a letter asking for seafood to be taken off the menu.
The letter from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to Mooloolaba's Underwater World was sent on Tuesday, a day before World Oceans Day.
PETA Australia's associate director Ashley Fruno says he's baffled by the aquarium's practice.
"After allowing people to look at these glorious, fascinating animals in awe, it's rather odd that you then invite visitors to stick a fork in them," the letter states.
"Serving fish at an aquarium is like serving monkey nuggets at a zoo."
PETA has suggested the aquarium's cafe serve "tasty vegan options" and move to promote respect for sea life.

Is a monkey nugget made from a monkey or something a monkey leaves behind(from their behind)?

Some time ago I went on a lunch cruise on the Murrey River, expecting a yummy fish meal. What did we get for lunch? Roast chicken and vegies.
The captain of the Steamer told us that good fish was to expensive to buy.
Fancy sailing along this big river and not getting fish to eat.
